It's another joke?? :roll:

That reminds me;

The past Friday morning, a tourist who had recently visited an area of Greece, was narrating his experience of having eaten a roast dog. The place name sounded so much like 'paphos' but obviously not our beloved Pafos. Could this be true. Has anyone ever heard of this practice in Greece? I am not making this up. It was LBC Friday early morning.

There was a report in the papers a week or so ago about some Vietnamese in Nicosia fattening up some dogs on their balcony for future consumption!

The story you heard was probably caused by someone taking the piss out of the tourists, they will believe anything especially if it is printed in The Daily Mail or The Sun!

Apparently the ancient Greeks did. From 'Practically Edible Food Encyclopaedia@

Meat in Ancient Greece
Though the Greeks ate some meat, meat had slightly barbaric connotations for them. They probably didn't eat more than 2 to 5 pounds (1 to 2 kg) of meat a year in total. There were even vegetarian groups that rejected it entirely. Greeks would, however, eat dogs, something that is now beyond the pale for us.

Perhaps they played a prank on the tourist after feeding him goat or sheep.
