Anybody used these guys...?

I used to be a huge customer of theirs when I ran my business in the UK and found their service excellent.

When I needed some components recently I was delighted to find that they operate in Cyprus. Their web site is here.

I simply created an account on-line, placed my order and the goods were shipped from the UK by DHL in a few days. Only charged me €3.50 for delivery even tho one of the parts was out of stock and was shipped separately a day later... The posted the invoice which can be paid on-line...

Excellent service!

Farnell’s is another great similar company I used to buy from in Australia but I’m not sure if they’re represented in Cyprus…

Farnel are called CPCnow - I have their catalogue too...

However, last time I tried you couldn't order directly from them in Cyprus...

I had to open an account, then e-mail my requirements to the Cyprus Sales Girl who then processed the order.... It doesn't sound onerous but not as convenient as buying directly from the catalogue on-line...

And, as I said the service from RS has been excellent!

Unfortunately DHL don't cover Pissouri so I have to drive there (Limassol) to pick my bits up - but the staff in DHL are always lovely...

I bought this black cartridge at Bionic for just €12.25 but they’re selling it for €21.96!

Ah... that is the secret to their success!

RS sell everything, but really concentrate in the area of electronic components...

People buy from them as they are so convenient and offer good service but I am convinced they make their money out of items (like print cartridges) which they obviously don't consider to be their core competence...

I ordered some diodes from them the other day - I bought 100 for less than I could buy a pack of five anywhere else...

I also needed some Lithium batteries but they were €5 each - I bought a pack of six from ebay for the same price...

It is laziness that gets people to add print cartridges/lithium batteries, etc. to the end of an order for things that are cheaper than elsewhere or difficult to obtain elsewhere...
