Isn’t it time we reconsidered Cyprus’ entry into the EU?

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

simply vp it boils down to this, either you choose Cyprus first or not. and; being a crow you should know better, it is not just the crime (with all your barking) but the community (of all living things). i know, you won't get that but it's good advice to all of us when we banter Greek/Turk.

advent for a lot of issues...

dig.

Lets not underestimate one psychological benefit of EU membership for the fanatical/extremist GCs...They believe they have achieved their ENOSIS with Greece dream via the EU... Just ask Piratis and Oracle...

I am with GR on this issue...In the long run the disadvantages of membership would be overwhelming.. The increasing cost of holiday making would result in the decline of the tourism sector...The ROC will end up as a retirement village for the middle classess of the rich EU countries, serviced by the working classess of the poor EU countries...With a whole lot of accompanied social problems...

The future generations of Cypriots will have to emigrate to the rich EU countries for meaningful and fulfilling careers (ie brain drain) in fields like Science, medicine, technology, arts, achitecture, and engineering...

On the other hand I cant see how the RoC could pull out of the EU now, especially with the Cyprus problem hanging over their heads...
If there were a solution in the near future, the new Federated United States of Cyprus could possibly choose to pull out and retain a special trading partnership only, hence controlling the degree of influx of people from other countries...

I am with YFred on this one. His first attempt:

Racism, Homophobia, xenophobia and life phobia all in one.

That was the essence of GR's original post.

The big picture needs to be seen Cyprus, or a Federated Republic of Cyprus, will not be what you see in front of you today, Think the center of Finance of the whole Mediterranean region and most of Europe, Think The center of Shipping for all of Asia, Europe and Africa,.....Noone will even notice tourist in Cyprus, not to talk about any Petroleum or Natural Gas thats in the waters surrounding Cyprus, with all its benefits and products that could be produced ie plastics, synthetics etc....How many people do you know that go to Hong Kong or Singapore to be tourists......
