3,000 TCs on the side of Trabzonspor!

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Postby Bananiot » Wed Jul 27, 2005 2:16 pm

While they have their grey wolves we have our blue wolves. The point is, will we let the bigots totally destroy Cyprus? Let us not get dissilutioned so easily, this is the message I want to send to genuine pro solution compatriots in the TC community.

He said that today he is depressed at the racism he saw and heard directed at Turks and says that this has made up his mind that the two peoples are not ready to live side by side.

Gunaydin kardes, (good morning brother)....only a matter of time before everyone arrives at this conclusion...I personally hit that point after the referendum.and the non action since.

I did try to explain to him that a football match is not the best place to get the general public's pulse but he said that he knew that.

He said what was really worrying for him was that all sections of GC society sitting around him, young and old, men and women, seemed to be really animated with hate. He said that he would fear for his children's general safety in a country where such an environment could exist.

And does the Enosis flags reflect that GCs on this forum are lying about the Enosis idea being dead and buried and why were such flags allowed, would Taksim flags or TRNC flags been welcomed as well??? or were they convescated??

If you get the chance and visit other football matches in the south, you will see all kinds of flags waved by “fans.” Nazi flags, Greek flags, Cuban flags, scull and bones flags, British flags, Soviet Union flags, US flags, China flags, etc, etc. The whole issue with flags in stadiums is so banal and kitsch that it doesn't even worth talking about it. After all, being a football " disciple" of one team is not one of the trades that would characterize the most intelligent people on earth! I can assure you during the second game in Turkey there will be plenty of "TRNC" and "Taxim" flags as well, like we have seen it so many times in TV.

OK if you say so Kifeas as you seem to know everything, Ill look out for the flags you mention in next weeks match...

Gunaydin Arkadasim (Good morning my friend  )...Yes, I understand you. What has been interesting for me to witness in my friend has been the transformation from pro-solution, pro-UN plan, pro- having GC friends to disillusionment, cynicism and mistrust. Downer...

Tell him to hold on a wee bit longer. May be things will change after the Parliamentary elections in May 2006. Tell him to talk with the GC's that share his vision, this will cheer him up. You will be surprised how many decent GC's exist out there.

this could be the description of many TCs myself included... this will increase as GCs try to push for maximilist demands via EU.

I fear he is becoming a lost cause - he is now 58 years old and getting longer in the tooth - cantankerous old so and so. Still, I will try to keep his spirits up as I know it means a lot to him.

Yes, I agree with you. All I see is an entrenchment of positions now. TCs feel that zero goodwill now exists on the GC side and they are digging in.

He is clearly somebody that is looking for excuses. Thats how football games are, or maybe Cypriots should take some lessons from the British and act more civilized in football games?

The majority of TCs never supported unification. What they supported are things like the Annan plan, which are nothing more than a disguised partition. People that truly support solution are not looking for such excuses.

And you say that there was hate. Of course there is. Isn't it natural? Wouldn't most people hate the ones that force them to be refugees? (don't forget Anorthosis is a refugees team). Do you know many refugees (from any country) that love the ones that threw them out of their homes?

For hate to stop and peace to come, legality and justice should return.

If the TCs insist on keeping the refugees away from their homes I find it ridiculous to expect refugees not to hate them, and instead of blaming the ones that act against human rights you blame the refugees for their perfectly natural reaction.
