I just hope everything runs as smoothly in Turkey as it did in Cyprus.

My point is that common people have shown through this match that they can mingle without any problems.

I, for one, did not expect any trouble in Nicosia. All the talk was of security and potential trouble. Note that the greek-cypriot and turkisk-cypriot supporters inside the GSP Stadium were only interested in a game of football.

It was a high risk game could have been explosive, if it werent for the prison camp police control, barbed wire, majority segregation of TCs and GCs people and cars, and exiting control, was needed to deter people from causing trouble. We have yet to mature enough to do without these heavy precautions, the verbal abuse, Enosis and Greek flags, lack of "RoC" flags and Anorthosis flags were clear indications that we are not ready to live together peacefully.

I do not believe it! Here we are debating about the ... side effects of a sporting event. I only blame myself for getting involved in this conversation but now I must swimm deeper, it appears. Here we go:

1. The guy of ANT1 did not make a mistake. He was overcome by the occasion. Given time he would have probably asked for Constantinople.

2. Phani Chalkia was probably running fully doped during the Olympics. In one year she managed to beat herself by about 35 metres over a distance of 400 metres! In fact the Cypriot Famagustian athlete Antri Shialou beat her easily every time they met each other by about 20 metres. Before the Olympics she was almost completely unknown. She disappeared for a while (doing the Kenderis trick) and suddenly she came back for the Olympics a changed person. After the Olympics she fell back to oblivion. I say there are strong chances she was running under the influence of banned substances. The fact that others do the same is irrelevent. They also cheat. Still, I was very upset by her remarks after she won gold. They also helped in the spreading of mass hysteria. I would prefer Greeks to excell in other fields, science, culture etc. Then I would become proud. Sporting excellence means nothing. Look at East Germany. A sporting giant that does not even exist today.

1. The bloke who was doing the commentary, assuming we are both talking about the same person, showed his true colours. To me he was wrong.

2. The 2 Greek sprinters who were banned / withdrew before the last Olympics are a disgrace and embaressment to Greece. As for the other person mention, would that be the high hurdler? If it is it wouldnt surprise me if she was on drugs as well.
