No one can forecast what the euro/sterling exchange rate will be in future. It changes all the time.

Seems to have hovered around the 1eu : 1.1GBP here in Cyprus for a while now.

I do find I get a slightly better rate in the UK than in Cyprus, but always check what it is beforehand.

So would you normally change it in a bureau de change as opposed to a bank

I know at gatwick airport they wanted to give me 1.1 which I thought was a joke

In the post office they were giving 1.7

What rate do you think BdC would be giving

If I give you a couple of grand, can you get me 1.7E to the pound, please?
I think you'll find that was 1.07E to the pound.

I exchange money several times a month as my salary is paid in pounds sterling and I find that I usually get about 2 cents less than the rate shown on the BBC plus I have to pay a transfer charge from the UK Bank to the Cyprus Bank. It's usually cheaper to bring sterling with you and change it here though people say that a Nationwide account is the way to go as they give a favourable exchange rate and don't charge any transfer charges so it's convenient to use the Autobanks.
