We would continue to live together and in peace with the TC minority as we did during the 80 years of British rule. But now instead of being British subjects we would all become equal Greek citizens. We had nothing against the TC minority, just like we had nothing against any of the other minorities in Cyprus. Our struggle was against the Colonialists and not against the TCs. The conflict with the TCs started only when the TCs attacked us, burning the homes and shops of innocent people and massacring others. And as I showed in my previous post this was done after instructions from Turkey, promising to the TC minority gains on our expense if they helped them to defeat our revolution.

When a majority of the GCs can say,without any qualification,that ENOSIS with Greece dream was wrong and the cause of all our troubles,we will have some hope of a solution

The above quote is a good example of the trap that the Turks want us to fall in.

They are the ones who have most of the responsibility of what happened to Cyprus since they are the ones who initiated all wars and conflicts against us, starting from 1571 and continuing to 1958 and 1974 in their attempt to enslave and control our island.

We did take part in those wars and conflicts they started against us and they did suffer and had casualties as well, but putting most of the blame on us is like blaming the allies for WWII because the Germans and the Japanese had casualties and suffered during the wars they started.

Our cause for union with the rest of Greece was 100% legitimate. The UN resolution 1541 defines "free association with an independent State, integration into an independent State, or independence as the three legitimate options of full self-government."

Who was wrong was not the Cypriot people for asking for their legitimate rights, but the Turks and the British who refused those rights to us because they wanted to maintain troops and control over our island.

Now Bir wants us to take all the responsibility for everything. And maybe some Cypriots are enticed by his proposal. They might think "hey, lets just accept whatever the Turks say about the past, what we care about is the future, not the accuracy of what happened in history". But as I said this is a trap. It is this right which has been denied to us for centuries by foreign oppressors. The Cypriot people have the right, if they want, to unite their own island with Greece, EU or whomever else they choose, and neither Turkey nor a small Turkish minority in Cyprus by itself has the right to overwrite what the Cypriot people democratically choose.

And, by the way, if today the Cypriot people were given the option to choose between a true independence (no "guarantors", no foreign troops, all citizens equal without discrimination and segregation) and union with Greece, I can guarantee you that the vast majority of Cypriots, myself included, would vote for a truly independent Cyprus.

What could make enosis a favorable option today is only if that was the only way to gain our freedom from the Turkish oppressors.

I prefer to have an independent Cyprus rather than being a district of Greece, but definetely I would prefer enosis, and have Cyprus be a free island like Crete or Rhodes without any problems, rather than have some racist, problematic, undemocratic pseudo "independence".

That is the result of the war you started against us in 1958 when you collaborated with foreign Imperialists in order to deny the freedom to our island.
