lol in school we were taught that 'the Queen's English' was proper English

and most people born and raised in England cannot spell and misuse the English grammar. No offense intended, it's just quite funny.

You are quite correct, apart from myself (and very few others), the standard of English displayed by Brits is far inferior to that of many who have learnt English as a second language.

Sometimes it make me cringe when I see the blatant errors that posters (not just on this forum) make in their native language.
