Greece and Defence

Postby DigenisAkritas » Mon Jul 25, 2005 4:59 pm

In 1999 I hear Greece announced huge new investment into Defence. Here is my proposal if I became Prime Minister, I would increase tax rates by 3% and Corp. Tax by 1% and call these taxes 'Taxes for the Defence of the Land', by my brothers estimation (He is economist), thise means I could raise $45 Billion extra, I would channel this 45 billion into defence over 6 years, in a 12 year plan coinciding with current growth rates I would estimate that in 2017 Greece would be spending $93,000,000,000 (Around 60 Billion UK Pounds) on defence. Could you imagine the machines of Destruction that we could create with this? It would be great!

What would be so great about building a huge war machine when you could spend that huge amount of money on education and health and have the most educated and healthy people on the globe that would produce some of the greatest thinkers, now that would be great.

We should be disarming. It is sinful to spend large sums of money on the means of destruction of our fellow-man and even more so when you see there is poverty crying out to be relieved, and I don't mean only the financially poor, but also the poorly educated, the poor in mind (especially the narrow-minded people who indulge in all forms of hatred for our fellow beings with racism, religious intolerance etc) and the sick.

We have seen what armed bullying does in Iraq, even if never learned our lessons after WWI and WWII.

Peace.

And I told you 2fan, to prove me wrong if you said I quoted the Quran incorrectly, obviously if you KNOW I misquoted, then it should be easy, yes?

Im not about to get into a time consuming religious debate with an inmature foulmouthed brat that's regurtitating rhetoric and misquotes.
You need not reply because I have nothing else to say to you. Now go play on the speedway.

Well said 'brother', a far wiser way of not only helping your own people but the rest of mankind too.
As much as I try to be respectful and receptive of other peoples views is there any way that verbal diarrhoea can be eliminated from discussions. I am certain that there are individuals who need to get a life and get away from the computer screen for a while, they must be so bored that they have to post what they consider to be extremist statements and then sit back and count the idiots like me who give it the dignity of a response. How very sad. It’s a big wide world out there boys with thousands of things to do and see, try it, you may develop ideas that gain you a little respect instead of ridicule. Who said should we have moderators? We so obviously do.
