Circulation Licences (Car Tax DIscs)

Postby skyvet » Sat Apr 10, 2010 6:44 am

I have heard that it is now a legal requirement for vehicles to have their tax discs and MOT discs removed from the windscreen, and merely carried in the glove box. Can anyone confirm/deny this please?

there was an article in the Cyprus mail online a couple of days ago stating it is now a requirement to remove the tax disc from the windscreen(and MOT if your still displaying it) and keep it in the glove box of the vehicle...
but as this "law" has sort of drifted into operation there is a lot of confusion even among the police if you read the comments to the article.
This is described as a safety move to reduce accidents - although how many people have blamed the disc for causing an accident is not known.
This is not an EU requirement, and other countries with stringent motor rules havent seen the disc as a safety problem....
something rather strange about this rule.....

The tax disc is basically the same as the rego over here. But in Cyprus the amount of tax you pay every year differs according to the displacement and weight of the vehicle. If your car has an engine bigger than 1.6 liter the amount of rego you pay goes up quite drastically. MOT is the same as the Road Worthy Certificate we have in vic, but in cyprus you have to have your car inspected once every 3 years I (that's how it is in the north).

Ditch pumps never needed road tax

apparently 95% of all the harleys made are still on the road - the other 5% made it home
