Correct bev, you do not as an EU citizen have to change your DL to that of your host country at all even though the address on UK ones for instance is invalid. The only time you would change to a Cypriot issued EU Licence is when your own runs out. The EU card type DL only runs for 10 years unless you get to 70 then three years at a time.
Another problem though is that the UK count a UK issued DL being used on rentals in the UK with a non resident as possibly invalid insurance. I got my last rental in the UK to stipulate on the rental document that my invalid address would not interfere with the validity of the car insurance. I checked with my UK Police relative and he said that although address was incorrect IF stopped by the UK Police that a address at the time of visit in the UK would be ok. It would,nt make the DL invalid to them.
