If Famagusta is returned...

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

You will have to make concessions in order to get it back. Are you ready south cypriot?

I don’t know about the rest but a free dingy and a day’s ration is the best concession I can offer…

You can have GR, that is a good bargain. We can include Sotos in the package and can also throw in Yialousa, as a bonus.

A sad state of affairs!

Just as with everything else to do with Cyprus, nobody can ever agree with everyone else about anything!I pity Papandreou tomorrow and hope he drives some truths home to all the party leaders:i.e. the game is about to end and the time for an agreement is coming, regardless of who wins next Sundays election charade in the north! Both him and the world in general have far more serious problems to sort out!

George, you are very wrong, most TCs I know are the same as me. Nothing will be demolished. I really think you should reconsider your conclusion however you arrived at it. Perhaps you can explain to us how you arrived at such a conclusion.

If we are talking about Varosha, then it is all fenced off and controlled by the Turkish army. No Turkish Cypriot has access to it even if they wanted to demolish anything.

Varosha is already destroyed... I am talking about other areas subject to be released to the GCs...

It's been 36 years. TCs living in post 1974 GC homes have maintained, repair or upgrade these homes. Perhaps new windows & doors, floors, kitchen cabinets etc. If they have to abandon them, my gut feeling is, only the concrete walls may remain... nothing else. Why? Because they feel these homes were theirs so now, having to move out, sounds like "unfair"... hence the meltdown, revenge, denial etc.

If pictures of these homes were to be taken for before & after purposes, one could see how sad this handover may play out!!!

This is nothing new. Scorched earth tactics as usual.

Don't you mean Pre 1974 GC homes?

You may well be right about scorched earth, but I think it will be the exception rather than the rule. Why don't you get your camera and take some piccies.

The TRNC should do this. Take pictures of all homes so when and if they are given back, the barbarians who take exception are exposed and subject to punishment.

Most unlikely...

As far as I know, apart from Varosha which is totally fenced off, the older inner areas of Famagusta are now populated entirely by families from mainland Turkey.
