If Famagusta is returned...

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

as I proud granddad, I suggest you light a candle; it might help you see better.

Years ago on the CF, Bir/BK was Gentleman Jim on this forum. Many GCs will attest to that fact; that did not stop numbskulls from using unacceptable language towards him. Perhaps now he realises that this is the common language of this forum. Like for like. He even took me by surprise. So remember, pot and kettle.

Your right deniz, they were more down to earth back then. The sudden change of heart isn't because of GC's antagonizing them. Sticks and stones....remember? It's because they see a forceful ending coming to this impasse thats not in their favor.

For fear of an erroneous response, would you please tell me who 'they' are. TCs, GCs, partitionista's, unionists and what ever other factions?

Bir extended his hand in friendship and was bitten more than once. He, indeed we are all learning.

I was addressing Bir/BK as they. (Jeckyll/Hyde)

Similar situation from most of my friends from Varoshia. To my surprise, none of their descendants (kids), born after the 1974 war, expressed any interest in returning back "home".

Most of them are "settled" in other cities or abroad. Others lost interest or motive to return back.

My question to you is:

Who is ready to return to Varoshia at a moments notice? Are we ready to re-claim Varoshia, the jewel of Cyprus?

You make a basic mistake
If Famagusta be returned the hoteliers will take-for 4th time-compensasion for their hotels- Citizens will ask Afganistan government, among others, to support them financially for cleaning streets and re-building houses and cinemas-believe me even Mongolians will declare themselves as citizens of Famagusta intending to return back...!!1

You lost me there Epsilon. Not sure what you mean by Afghanistan, Mongolia???

When Varoshiotes begin the move back to their ghost city, I see business losses to Nicosia, limassol, Pafos and Larnaca. The displaced Varoshiotes will find the money, somehow, to re-build their homes. RoC might have a hard time financing the infrastructure repairs, estimated in the millions of Euros... No help from Turkey is expected unless forced by others.

BTW, Varoshiotes don't like to live in other cities, but they do because they have to. Like my self, I think moving to Larnaca (post 1974) was a very sad event. After 36 years, I still don't like larnaca, not sure why...

We all have a bit of Jeckyll and Hyde in us. You treat me right and I reciprocate. I have a nasty side too and you cannot pretend to be an angel either. Some of us have patience like stone, but even stones crack when tested to the extreme.
