Socrates said various b..hts, but if you are not feeling and beleaving that you are Greek -you can -not comment on him -you can not understand his bdhts-you can not be a descendant of him.
Unfo for you ,i am all of these things and you are just an " DOKISISOFOS"

Rubbish!

That was Plutarch, perhaps paraphrasing! 8)

However, it contradicted Socrates' views on obeying Athenian laws, in Defence (by Plato).

So who knows?

Once again I am astoundingly impressed, oracle, this time round of your profound knowledge of the classics. What a brain!

Birkibrisli, do not take them seriously. These are marginal people who write their profound nonsense in a forum hiding behind anonymity. Face to face they would appear more like midgets of thought.

Oh yes, the Internet is a great leveller. So how come you still get that quote wrong?

I took you to task about its misuse before. More especially because the Athenians considered the world as potentially all under their sphere of influence.

And since you are so fond of Socrates, confident that you resemble him in progressive thinking; he on the other hand admired the Spartans, not least because of their xenelasia (avoidance of strangers).

So, Ban, you can find quotes for any occasion at the touch of a button, but it takes a little more to use them faithfully, in the right context!
