It's being reported that the Turkish Cyprus Airlines strike has hit several flights bound for Manchester and Stanstead today. People are vowing never to use them again! More custom for LCA!

I'm sure they will deal with the crisis in Manchester and Stansted since there were only 4 CTA Midnight Express flights effected by the strike in 60 days!

HAVA-SEN’S STRIKE LIFTED

The strike started yesterday morning by the Hava-Sen union – which represents the personnel working for the Cyprus Turkish Airlines has been lifted. The strike was ended around 4 yesterday afternoon after a 5-point agreement was reached at the negotiations held between the Union and the Ministry of Labor and Social Security which was authorized by the Council of Ministers to conduct the talks.

According to the agreement reached, the decision on the dismissal of 137 workers has been withdrawn. Last month’s salaries of the CTA personnel will be paid by today, the latest.

Unpaid social insurance and provident fund contributions will be paid and the problems concerning the social insurance and provident funds will be eliminated by the 30th of June, the latest.

Speaking at the end of a meeting of the Council of Ministers, Council Spokesman Foreign Minister Huseyin Özgürgün said that the two sides should be ready to make self-sacrifice and should act with good will in order to help the CTA recover.

The strike started by the Hava Sen Union at Ercan Airport at 03.00 o’clock yesterday morning was turned into a protest action after it was postponed for 60 days by the Council of Ministers. The strike led to the cancellation of 10 flights.
