it is unfortunate to have to raise this abstruse question about Sharia law but, because Islamic State have resurrected the Middle Ages here and now in 2014, this is no longer an academic point. The poor people in Amerli risk in the UN representatives word being 'massacred' - in my view, the wholesale killing of a group of people because they belong to one ethnic or religious group is genocide and it should be termed as this - because Islamic State regards them, as Shiites, as being kafirs. What puzzles me is whether they get the chance to convert first or not. The Yezidis are also deemed to be kafirs by these brutes and so worthy of slaughter on the spot, but I have seen footage of a group of Yezidis (all men) being converted to Islam at gunpoint, although other Yezidis appear to have fallen victim to genocide. So what is the deal with Shiites in the view of a Sunni fundamentalist bent on imposing Sharia? Do they get slaughtered on the spot or given the chance to convert to orthodox Sunni Islam first? Is it because they are they deemed to be apostates that they are denied this option? Any apologists for Sharia care to give an explanation?
I really hope some force out there comes to the rescue of the people of Amerli before it is too late.
