I was once told by a person who was heavily indoctrinated in the God delusion (this time the Christian version) that of course God exists and he had proof for me. Apparently, one of their group had a small child who was very ill, so they came together and had a lengthy prayer session begging God to make the child well, and God, he said listened and granted their wish, and the child recovered.
Hold on a minute:
1) In terms of their world view, it was God's will in the first place that made that child ill, and God supposedly is an all-knowing, all-seeing being who pervades the whole universe. As such, what business is it of theirs in the first place to question God's will to make that child ill and, secondly, why do they need to hold a prayer session to let God know that they want the child to get better when God already knows everything and knows that this is what they want?
2) In terms of their world view, this short time on earth is just a test to decide whether you get into heaven or not in the eternal afterlife, and the main goal is to gain eternal salvation. A small child, if it dies, is guaranteed entry to heaven, so why would they not welcome this?
