Apart from being a brutal, savage, cowardly attack which must be condemned wholeheartedly, this is going to be a game changer and a lot depends on who did it.

The death toll is now put at 68.

What drives a "man" to blow himself up in a mosque, is it blind faith, is it an inbred hatred for his fellow Muslims or is it just that a savage behaves as savages do.

Following the suicide attack, more savages begun shooting at the worshippers, no doubt shouting Allahoakbar in the process,

I lost all and any belief in religion at a very early age, when i was 10 years old i witnessed a child ( about 3 years old ) knocked down and killed by a lorry. It was a pure accident and the driver had no way of avoiding it. That weekend at sunday school i asked the local vicar why god had allowed the young girl to die? it had devastated her family and also the driver of the lorry never drove again so also his family. The vicar said it was ' gods will and that she is now in heaven with him and at peace ' I never went near a church after that.
Now what i find hard to understand is that if the Imams and all the other religious
teachers really believe that blowing themselves up to demonstrate their devotion to their god is a good thing, then why are the Imams not the first ones in the queue for the bomb belts? If dying gets you into heaven then you would think that all the vicars, priests and imams in the world would be on the frontline when any war is being fought, but they seem to hide in the background to guide and comfort all the poor sods who are at the front.

I was once told by a person who was heavily indoctrinated in the God delusion (this time the Christian version) that of course God exists and he had proof for me. Apparently, one of their group had a small child who was very ill, so they came together and had a lengthy prayer session begging God to make the child well, and God, he said listened and granted their wish, and the child recovered.

Hold on a minute:

1) In terms of their world view, it was God's will in the first place that made that child ill, and God supposedly is an all-knowing, all-seeing being who pervades the whole universe. As such, what business is it of theirs in the first place to question God's will to make that child ill and, secondly, why do they need to hold a prayer session to let God know that they want the child to get better when God already knows everything and knows that this is what they want?
2) In terms of their world view, this short time on earth is just a test to decide whether you get into heaven or not in the eternal afterlife, and the main goal is to gain eternal salvation. A small child, if it dies, is guaranteed entry to heaven, so why would they not welcome this?

It is easy to blame America, because the very clear underlying factor is that the entire rubbish that is occurring in the Middle East with respect to Iraq at least was as a result of a US Foreign Policy failure.

However, this does not mean that the West has to stay out of this. In my opinion, they have a responsibility now to clean this whole mess up as quickly as possible and help Iraq to maintain a tight control of the country. In my opinion, they also need to help Assad but I can't see this happening. Hopefully, reality will hit home and they will realize that sectarian issues between Sunni and Shia must be controlled as well as the tribalism and perhaps leaders like Saddam Hussein, Assad, Qadaffi are necessary to achieve this.

I also think it's high time the Kurds get their own part of Turkey and Northern Iraq. They seem to be the only people (militants) in the area that don't chop off heads or go after the Christian Assyrians with such cowardice.

Their ally is poverty and illiteracy. That is their fertile recruitment ground which they exploit.
