Turkey blames everybody but itself

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

How often does Australia make the news in Europe? Probably once a year, yet Aussies like to think that they’re very important and spoken about in international news every day!

AmericanGC wrote:The US media never covers Greek news much less Cyprus news and they never expose Turkey for fear of threats. The Armenian Genocide debate was hardily covered. It's all about what is in the best interest of American politics, it has nothing to do with what is right or moral. If the US had an interest in Cyprus instead of Turkey they would have kicked the Turks out slapped them with sanctions, embargo, and limitations. They would have called Turkey the axis of evil. But since the interest is in Turkey they put the blinders on.

The fact of the matter is that the US doesn't give a f*ck about the rest of the world and is not interested in "news" from abroad. Mexico and Canada are about as far as foreign news goes. Iraq and Afghanistan feature because of US commitment there.
Americans for all their further education know nothing of "abroad" and their geography is sketchy at best. Less than 10%(?) of US citizens have passports and this is an indication of their insularity.

I think it is nearer to less than 20%.

Their lack of geographical knowledge and their poor record for teaching it in school is often commented on.

Surveys showed that, even after they had been fighting in Iraq for more than 3 years, more than half of them did not know where Iraq was. And quite a few could not point to the US on a world map!

Have you ever visited a US air base in the UK? You find yourself in America before you even drive through the gates.
US doesn't know/care about Cyprus as it has zero interests in the place. Cyprus and Greece are minor NATO members with not much to offer. Turkey is a major player in NATO.

When I told some American Workmates I lived in Cyprus I had to show them on a map where it was, the Russians on the other hand have much more in depth knowledge of geography and current world events.

In their defence however, their country is so vast they can drive 3K miles without crossing an international border. They are quite self sufficient so probably feel not much need to look 'outwards'.

I know Cypriots who have not travelled over very much of their own tiny island.
