Had the G/Cs been the 18% of the population of Cyprus and the T/Cs the 80% , would you have respected the wishes of the 18% and refrain from wanting to part of Turkey or would you have ignored the minority.

Be prepared to be surprised.
Without firing a single shot, I would have given the minority the chance to vote for and select what it is they wish to do, inc independence, and work out the land percentages on the maps accordingly. Ignore the minority, never.
We were pushed into 2.5 percent of the land Milti. What roc did was legalised criminality.[/quote
As I understand it some were forced by the fear of EOKA B terrorists to seek refuge in safe enclaves and some were forced by TMT to abandon their homes and move to these enclaves.

Yes the salient word is Fear .... as we see so often, and as some would have experienced at first hand, civilians caught in the middle looking for safety.

Milti, where I was there was no TMT forcing anybody do nothing. I saw the fear in the faces of the refugees. One came to live next door. When she saw the church on the hill then became hysterical and refused to live in that house.
Milti, it is a myth that TMT forced TCs to move.
That was my experience.
In fact Aysozomeno was surrouned and was about to be attacked when they were rescude in the presence of the English Captain.
Open your mind.

ROLE OF WOMEN in the liberation struggle of EOKA 1955-1959

In the liberation struggle of 1955-59, the woman of Cyprus, continued its long deserved Greek tradition. The Spartan shield mothers giving their children were told to "do or TAS.
(ie, alive or bring back the shield, or a dead bear on it. not to give in, not flee.)

In 1821 the struggle of women workers was again worthy of our history. Mando Mavrogenous Laskarina Poumpoulina.

In 1940, women of Pindos, there were a significant force in the defense of Italians. During the German occupation in all the resistance organizations, attended by thousands of women.

In the same way then and Greeks of Cyprus have this in their liberation struggle, in many ways.

1. Integrated EOKA
2. Integrated into ANE
3. They moved directives and instructions of the Chief George Grivas Digenis
4. They moved bombs, ammunition, weapons
5. handed out leaflets EOKA
6. They wrote slogans on the walls eg GREECE AND THE PM shall we TROGOMEN STONES, GREECE CYPRUS Enosis, born and will die GREEKS

The women of the village, took care to supply food and other necessary goods, or to hide in their homes, ignoring the risks.

When cities were British executions, often fighters gave their weapons to women, to move them away from the place of execution, because the English do not suspect women.

The women in the liberation struggle, moved the galanolefki honored our flag, wearing it like clothing, thus fooled the British, who had forbidden the Greek flags.

Many women were elected as other heroines have given their lives for the freedom of Cyprus and the Union MOTHER GREECE.

Among many other excellent examples of struggle and sacrifice, they are below

1. Serafim Eleni Loizou
2. Nitsa Hatzigeorgiou
3. Andreou Agathe
4. Anthoula Haritini (Rita)
5. Antoniadou Maria D.
6. Antoniou Immortality
7. Dafni Andreas Georgiou
8. Artemiou Niki George
9. Koumidou Athena Nicholas
10. Kountouridou Maria
11. Sotiriou Katerina
12. Charalambos Constantinou (Pizza)
13. Kouspetri Chloe and Michael Androula

These women as well as many other models are eternal militancy and patriotism. The date of the action, must guide the modern of today's new era, an era of consumerism, ethnic minority and wear.

We, the women FRONT of the National People's Front (E.LA.M.) continue the fight for freedom of our country and our union with the mother GREECE, aklouthontas the footsteps of our ancestors and the undying flame of iroomartyron 1955 -59 with pistin God and the ideals of our race, dinomen vow fight until aischaton to meet our national goals.
