Evolution is still not taught in schools and Education Minister Dr Andreas Demetriou was shocked the other day when he visited a top school in Nicosia and watched a biology lesson. It happened that the day was the day for the 200 years of the birth of Darwin. He asked them if they knew about this day. Of course nobody knew (not even their teacher, probably). He told them and then he was asked "who is Darwin?". He tried to explain and the only response he got from a pupil was "is he the joker that claims we came from monkeys?"

The God Delusion and The Greatest Show on Earth by Richard Dawkins should become part of the curriculum and all religious content must be removed from schools and State TV. :D

Agreed.

Anyone who believes that something can appear out of nothing (nothingness = the absence of anything at all) shouldn’t be calling himself a scientist because the essence of a “scientist” is to conduct research in order to prove or disprove a subject matter, but if that subject matter is non existent to them and thereby inaccessible then no such research can ever take place, and the scientist is therefore reduced to philosophizing contrary to the rules of applied science!

Soon the world will become a flavourless, odourless, colourless, clinical place full of bemoaning Bananiots ....

Not at all.

The Olympic Flame is a Hellenic symbol which unites the world in sport, and is suppose to stop all wars.

It contributes to humanity, but the GOC doesn't contribute anything constructive and will be discarded in time as the replicators, or robot vehicles discard things which are not critical to the survival of the species.

It will be discarded so that humanity can reconnect with what is important - The real Hellenism that was betrayed by the GOC and nationalists alike!

Atheism didn't do any such thing.

Christianity will self eradicate with time. Just don't fight it! Accept your fate! :D

More and more Muslims are moving into so-called "parallel communities"-- communities where there's little hint of Western culture (ATHEISM).

In the majority of these communities, Islam and the Islamic way of life dominate.

This is happening in western Europe now and will happen in Cyprus eventually, when the "liberal" and "moral" atheists take over.

The spread of Islam is helped along by the presence of Christianity.

When Christianity succumbs to evolution, and replaced by science, Islam will also follow suit.

Both preach hatred and racism, so when one disappears, the other won't be so outward.

Your lack of intolerance is very apparent, and is common amongst "saintly Christians"!

Your lack of intellect in such matters is apparent, as highlighted by Bananiot! :(

Science deals with what can be proven, not sheer fantasy about "Intelligent Design".

If anything it is YOUR belief that RESTS ENTIRELY on something forming out of nothing thereby making it TOTALLY unscientific!

Paphitis, I'd go see a psychiatrist if I were you because you're NOT well.

You just told us that you believe in Intelligent Design.

You stated that something can't appear from nothing.

So who designed the watchmaker?

You're delusional!

It is very sad that Hellenism has become such a dirty word in your own narrow mind, all because EOKA B or the coupists hijacked its precious ideals to further their own dishonorable agendas. The GOC has also done the same thing, and for that, they will pay!
