No Milti, it was the big bad bear America who was dictating cyprus policy from the moment Makarios deviated from the original plan to one where he was moving away from them. Thats when the coup became a necesity for them to achive the end result they got today.
The coup and the invasion of the Cyprus are nothing when compared with junta movements in mediterranean countries. Cyprus is a very small part of the main story, however neither Makarios nor another man can change or dare to change the direction of the plans easily.
