Apoel Fans' attack over Turkish Cypriots (again)

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Apoel Fans' attack over Turkish Cypriots (again)

Postby Tommy27 » Tue Mar 30, 2010 11:21 am

I condemn the incident that some Apoel fans attacked Turkish Cypriots who went to watch Apoel - Omonia game last sunday.

I don't say that all Apoel fans are responsible but I really don't understand how xenophobic they are. They are the most racist group in Europe...for sure...Can anyone have a suggestions how both communities avoid such actions? How we prevent this tension?

I am tempted to say Education, Education and yet more Education.....

....but then what type of education. The only healer is time....but are we allowed to forget Hiroshima, Auschwitz the slaughter of Armenians?

Our side is the same; we are not allowed to for get Murataga and Sandallar.......but I should not have said 'Our Side'. Its Cypriots as a whole we should strive for.

It's the team. They are very very very nationalist (dont know if im using the right word). Some of them have very extreme views and they HATE (notice i use hate, which is a strong word in itself) everything that has to do with anything Turkish. Turkish Cypriot or not. They want to make Cyprus a Greek island in and of itself. They don't call them selves Greek-Cypriots but Greeks. I really do not understand how they think. I tried reasoning with a couple of them to see how they think but it's beyond me! And then people say politics have nothing to do with sports... It's a game for Gods' sake...

They're the dregs of our society.
Football breeds degenerate sociopaths, or more accurately, attracts them.

What are you talking about football breeds it?

Read the quotes of Oracle, Get Real, Malap, Mili, Sotos, Mr Ed, Bill C, Piri etc. etc. etc.

You want to know who is breeding the hate - it is these people.

Maturity would be an admitance of their poor actions over the years in their hate mongering covered with getting people's rights!

Think of those bloggers that defended APOEL when they were being racists the last time and were called up by the football authority!

Shame on the people on the frequent bloggers on this forum.

One thing has always puzzled me. In the USA, baseball and American football are hugely popular spectator sports yet you never get this kind of crowd trouble or fighting between fans of rival teams there. Why is this?

The strange thing is that all over the world this sort of crowd violence goes hand in hand with football.

I dont think the hooligan element at any football club has anything to do with politics. Its just pure hooliganism for the sake of it. Nothing to do with politics or any other agenda...just mindless morons and unfortunately they jump on the football (or a percieved political)bandwagon...Its not just Apoel every team has their own idiots.

BTW OP Yes it should be condemned and the culprits ,if possible, brought to justice and given hefty sentences.
