Hang on a minute. We've already established that the Cypriot president apologised to the TCs, on behalf of his community, some while ago. The goodwill gesture was not reciprocated by Talat, who has still accepted no blame; which has left Christofias exposed and unable to take matters further in analysing and accepting past events objectively.

I'm sorry BirKibrisli, but who exactly needs to take the lead and learn to say "sorry"?

Half hearted expressions of regret are not enough,MP...

What evidence do you have that it was half-hearted? The newly elected Christofias used precious political capital to say sorry. Have the magnaminity to acknowledge this act of good grace; don't throw it back in his face. That's if you really want relations to improve.

BirKibrisli wrote:But it is better than nothing....

Which is exactly what Christofias got in return. A big fat nothing! So if what Christofias offered wasn't enough, that's because it was not reciprocated. So now what? Do you want him to commit political suicide?

BirKibrisli wrote:Talat simply do not have a free hand to apologise for anything, even if he thought there was something to apologise for...

So when you said "we" should learn to say sorry, who exactly were you referring too? And, if Talat is not free, what's stopping Turkey from apologising for some of the atrocities it committed in Cyprus; to help move matters along.

Unfortunately Turkey won't allow things to get past first base. So what you need, you can't have.

Well that rather depends on the TC population and what they wish, I will go along with their democratic vote.

No Deniz, TCs gave it a go and were kicked by an ass. I don't blame them for how they voted last and the next one.
Not at all.

Stop taking my comments out of their context...The RoC government which insists it governs for all Cypriots is responsible for implimenting measures to improve trust and understanding between all Cypriots...All the RoC Presidents failed miserably in this obligation...Words are not enough...We need to see action and no action is forthcoming...the TCs know when something is meant for international consumption to turn the tide against the GCs after their refusal to vote for Unification...Got it now???

What we need from the GC side is an admission from the RoC government and the Church that Enosis was a disasterous adventure which has brought the present calamity on all Cypriots...Sitting on the government benches, enjoying the sole power and legitimacy knowing how that legitimacy came about in 1964,and paying lip service to the suffering of the TCs will not get us far...You cannot compare the obligations of the two sides...One side is parading around as the legitimate representative of all Cypriots...The onus is on that side to come up with measures to bring about trust and understanding and respect amongst all Cypriots...After 50 years of living under emergency conditions, depending on the kindness of their big cousins, and trying to survive with their identity as Turkish Cypriots intact, the TCs have very limited power to affect any meaningful change...The ball is squarely in the RoC court now...And it has been there for some time with little willingness shown to play the game fairly...Time for you guys to get a reality check...And accept your responsibility for Cyprob, which is overwhelming...

Kindness of their cousins?
Even if he believed he had something to apologise for?
You're fast becoming a bigger fanatic than some others here!

No,DT...I have become a realist...It is you who has become a GC fanatic, totally ignoring the realities of our situation...Yes,"kindness of their big cousins",because when their partners and compatriots turned on them and threw them out of the house, the TCs survived ,by the skin of their teeth, with help from Turkey...Without that ALL,instead of half, would have had to leave their homeland, just as I had to do...It is time for you to acknowledge this...

And yes,"if they thought they had something to apologise for",because once you started your bloody-minded quest for Enosis with Greece, the die was cast...Time you have accepted and acknowledged this as well...If you and the others keep blaming the biggest victims in this conflict for your own shortcomings then Partition is inevitable, and my belief now is that this is what you and most of your comrades are wishing for...You pretend otherwise because you want to get as much advantage as possible before finally agreeing to it....It took me a while but I worked you out...I will not forgive your double treachery, once back in the 50s,and the present one ...Your Enosis folly has cost me my homeland, and your refusal to accept the responsibility now is costing my community their identity...My anger is growing by the month...

So with Bananiot having recently expressed his view that enosis was a right of the GC population but they went about it the wrong way...and you blaming EVERYTHING that has ever happened to Cyprus on that desire for enosis.....

What are you gonna do when you 2 meet now that your anger is growing? Poke him in the eye?

What will you say to the 180,000 innocent GC's that lost everything? That it was all their fault and that Turkey has NOTHING to apologise about?

I have Turkish friends that would call you a fanatic right now.
