I agree completely on the teaching. The Turkish army however is an enemy of Cyprus and this won't be brushed under the carpet or forgotten while the army is commiting an action that warrants a phsycological reaction from the other side.

Ghandi would hold ill feeling, not some hooligan.

I have not heard one word on a petition for Apoel to be brought to task over this and their breeding ground of racism.
I have seen more sympathy and action brought to bear by GCs for someone not being able to have access to their property than such physical human violence.

And what do you do? You come back to point the finger at the Turkish army... DT please.

Did Ghandi ever promote violence? Or did he work to stop it by promoting love and tolerance?
He was all about non-violence from wherever it came.

Was Galatasaray bought to task for one of their fans murdering a Leeds fan?

Apoel Ltd as a company both the Chairman and the board have been taking as much action as can be done by a sporting company against any hooligans who choose to hide under the name of Apoel. They've refused to sell season tickets to known culprits and now have instigated a policy whereby no one can by a ticket to watch Apoel without presenting their ID and having the number written on the ticket. That way they can't give the ticket to someone else to get it.

Thats about as much as the team can do, the rest is up to society, the police and the general situation in this occupied country.

I for one despise anyone who is violent against anyone else, I don't discriminate between Tc or Gc as you do. I don't remember you complaining when an Apoel fan was sent to hospital by an omonoia fan so I'm guessing your only concern is when a tc gets involved in any of this.

Apoel has not done enough - just look at the stands on a match day - politics and racism is rife at a sports event. Sorry argument still remains weak particularly the need to deflect rather than address.

Where is your accusations for Trabzonspor where 300 kids where marching round the stadium holding "trnc" flags and teh APOEL fans were pelted in the stands from the beginning to the end of that match.

Are you so racist that you cannot even see your hypocrisy?

I am not Turkish, I am Turkish Cypriot. So don't put their actions on me.
We are not even allowed to play football on the international stage.
When the violence comes closer to my home and risks flaring up and destroying what little reconcilliation there is then I am keen to speak up and hope the words I say connect with the more peaceful people of the island.

Ball's back in your accusatory deflecting court.

Mala, when decisions are made on a partisan basis then they have to be called as such. The EU did nothing short of showing racism - I stand by that.
The issue right now is the racism generated from your precious club.

All the responses I have seen say to me HELL YES partition is the only way as the GCs cannot police themselves to be more responsible.

Your "Racists of Christ" words certainly would have connected with the more peaceful people of the island - though perhaps not in the way you'd like.

What, Derby County? What have the Rams done now?

Apoel is not my club. Most Cypriots, at home and abroad, don't support Apoel. Even more think the actions of Apoel and all other football hooligans is despicable. (But I still hate Forest).

Well it's just as well your precious pseudo-country is isolated from the world because football hooliganism is a problem to police all over the planet.

That “Turkish Cypriots” and Turkey, want to get away with the crimes of 1974 and especially the great land/property theft as a result of the GC ethnic cleansing, is a VERY OLD story so please, DO NOT insult our intelligence with 2-cent junk!

I've made my point, we're just going round in circles now with nothing interesting being put forward.

Turkish Cypriots want to thank fans who rescued them from APOEL mob

TWO TURKISH Cypriots whose car was mobbed by some 200 APOEL fans last weekend say they wish to find and thank four Greek Cypriot youths who helped them survive the ordeal.

“We owe our lives to these guys. If they hadn’t intervened, we might have been killed or seriously injured,” said Baris Mamali, one of the two Turkish Cypriots caught up among marauding APOEL fans following last Sunday’s match with Omonia.

Mamali went to Sunday’s match with another Turkish Cypriot friend Tekin Birinci, a regular attendee of Cypriot league matches. As the pair sought to leave the GSP stadium in their Turkish Cypriot-registered car, they say they were rounded on by a large group of APOEL fans, many with their faces covered by scarves.

“Two youths came alongside the car and pointed to the number plate of the car. Another guy then came and got off his motorbike and started shouting at us in Greek. All I could understand was the word, Turko (Turk),” Mamali told Turkish Cypriot-daily Kibris the day after the attack.

“In around 10 seconds, approximately 200 APOEL fans had encircled the car. Immediately we closed the windows and locked the doors,” he said, adding that the fans were making threatening gestures.

“They tried opening the doors, and when they found them locked, they began kicking and punching the vehicle,” Mamali continued.

Almost certainly facing injury, Mamali and Birinci’s luck suddenly changed.

“At that point a few APOEL fans, two on Tekin’s side and two on mine, protected us from the crowd until the police arrived.

Mamali and Birinci have filed a complaint to the police over the attack, and perhaps because Birinci is a registered football coach, they have received reassurances from the Cyprus Football Association (CFA) that damage to the car will be repaired free of charge.

However the two are still keen to find and thank the four APOEL fans who came to their rescue.

“Those people had warned us just before the attack that we should remove the plates from the car and not talk in Turkish. Then they protected us during the attack,” Mamali said. adding that he and Birinci were using the social networking website Facebook to try and track down their rescuers.

Where is that law you mention Palio? They have been like that for a long time and not enough is done to curb their activities. Probably they are all related to some important personage or police chief. Like the north - it is who you know. Thats what happens in countries with small populations.
