WE ARE ALL THE SAME !

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

WE ARE ALL THE SAME !

Postby miltiades » Fri Mar 26, 2010 2:18 pm

I grew up in the UK where after some 50 years I have reached the conclusion that all Cypriots are the same even their differences stem from the fact that all are Cypriots.
Lets see now , on this forum alone I have met at least half a dozen T/Cs and same number of G/Cs as well as some British Cypriots .
All have exactly the same needs and wants all aspire for the ultimate goal that is to see a permanent solution to the Cyprob with fairness and justice for all and without the fear that another conflict would erupt some time in the future.
A T/C naturally would support his community and so would a G/C but the true Cypriots that see only Cypriot and not Greek or Turkish would be more than likely to support what is fair and just not because it serves the interests of his community to the detriment of the other community but because its fair .
Having been on the forum for four years I have had many altercations involving a number of both G/Cs and T/Cs when debating "controversial " issues .
We are all susceptible to arbitrary views on matters affecting preconceived notions filled with prejudices , some of us who have managed to ditch the most dominant of all sectarian issues , ie the erroneous and damaging ideology concerning our true motherlands have seen our outlook towards our compatriots radically change , we no longer see majorities , minorities or divisions but aspire for a united Cyprus equally belonging to all true Cypriots.
A T/C father feels the pain of losing a child just as much as a G/C parent does . Lets concentrate on issues that unite our people and not divide .

I agree, dear miltiades...I have been saying it all along. We are one people one nation divided by two manmade factors : language and religion...And these can be easily overcome with some tolerance and empathy and compassion...If it wasn't for the fanatical nationalists of course! :(

I have always believed that the extremists from both sides were entirely responsible for all our ills.
They are indeed still all around us but at the same time there are more and more Cypriots who have realized that in order to live together in peace and prosperity we must concentrate on the issues that unite us and not issues concerning foreign countries that divide us.
The UK , for all its problems , presents a fine example of how people from different communities can live and work together in peace , perhaps we could emulate the UK Political scene , one day we hope !

Try telling the likes of Oracle that! However, I am now of the opinion that she and others like her are so ridiculously, slaveringly and rabidly OTT and desperate that they don't really affect the opinions of reasonable, sane people when it comes to influencing the way others think of their sworn enemies (the Turks, TCs and just about any other 'foreigner').

But I believe it does have the affect of turning those who hadn't given much thought to the problems against GCs. And also, especially recently, against Greeks lol!

I mean who'd want to be counted alongside people like that?

Nice, refreshing tune runaway, but do not expect any points from us. I wish we could scratch each others back like all neighbours do, but we are no ordinary neighbours ...
