We are one people one nation divided by two manmade factors : language and religion...And these can be easily overcome with some tolerance and empathy and compassion...If it wasn't for the fanatical nationalists of course!
Why are you supporting segregation, division and the discrimination of Cypriots based on their ethnicity then?
This racist discrimination was imposed since the time of the Ottomans, when the population was divided between Muslims (Turks) with more rights and Christians (Greeks) with much less. 80 years after the end of Ottoman rule you again collaborated with foreign imperialists demanding the partition of Cyprus and you managed to force the racist 1960 agreements which again divided the population on the expense of the majority of Cypriots.
I am the one who supports that all Cypriots should be equal without any kind of racist discrimination and segregation, you support the opposite. So are you a fanatical nationalist?
No,Piratis,YOU are the fanatical nationalist...You are the one who is blaming the TCs of today for the deeds of the Ottomans over 400 years ago...
You are the one lying in wait to extract revenge once again from innocent TCs...
You are the one who justifies the treachery of Enosis with Greece...
You are the one who is still smarting from your lost dream, and still harbour bitterness and hatred for the TCs...
I am for one country one nation, unified with democratic and humanitarian principles. But with people like you around I realise it is impossible....Innocent TCs need protection from the likes of you...You are a wolf in sheeps clothing, and I cannot advocate that anyone put their trust in you unconditionally...I wish I could ...
During the Greek War of Independence in 1821, the Ottoman authorities feared that Greek Cypriots would rebel again. Archbishop Kyprianos, a powerful leader who worked to improve the education of Greek Cypriot children, was accused of plotting against the government. Kyprianos, his bishops, and hundreds of priests and important laymen were arrested and summarily hanged or decapitated on July 9, 1821.

Only one worthy of a foul-mouthed insult could believe I posted the YouTube clip as a "stupid religious joke".

Let us talk more of our similarities, let us talk more of unity and how this can be achieved- and then let those of us who truly believe in this, work on a strategy that we can take to the people in a constructive way, let us use our collective talents to express this, and convince the masses of our people that for too long have bought in to the ideology of those in power, those that have too much to lose from our brotherhood, our sisterhood, our identitity as CYPRIOTS
who is with me?

I for one am with you DTA...But do not underestimate the task at hand...When I first joined this forum I thought that if I talked about our similarities, and the faults of the TC side in this bloody conflict it would help improve the mutual trust and understanding...Hence we would realise we are really one nation divided by artificial factors like language and religion...AFter a few years I realised how blind and deaf are most GCs on this forum to the realities of our little problem...And I realised how deeply we,the TCs,are blamed and despised for simply being who we are...Native Cypriots of Turkish background...As you see from most of their posts they hold us responsible even for the deeds of the Ottomans, let alone for spoling their Enosis dreams...The word "Turk" is thrown around like confetti as an insult...Reading some of their post brings shivers in my spine....It takes me back to my childhood,to the mid 50s and early 60s when we lived in fear of our lives huddled together in enclaves...Yet when I talk about it I get accused of lying and exaggerating...When I talk about our loss, the loss of our ancestral homes and property in the South there is absulutley no empathy...I simply get accused of making up excuses to justify the GC losses and our "gains" on their expense...Without empathy, understanding and trust,we will never achieve a just and peaceful solution...With some notable exeptions, you will find you are talking to brick walls, whose hearts and minds are totally conditioned for two things:bitterness and hatred...I simply do not have the energy to keep trying, but I wish you good luck, and I am right behind you if that is any comfort...

To the vast majority of people religion represents their faith and has nothing to do with arming people to kill , you watch too much television.
