Off to Buyuk Han now, to discuss these and other matters. Wish you could come along ...

It will be an absolute pleasure to meet you and Halil and the other compatriots...Do they still make Shamishi in Cyprus? Halil will know what I mean,if you don't...Failing that we might make do with Cyprus coffee and lokmas...

Yes gardash they still makes Shamish and lokma ..... don't worry we can go together to have as mush as you want!

Meeting was great today at buyukhan. One of our GC friend son came along with his friends from Mexico to meet us and later on they went to have a north Cyprus tour.
In the buyuk han you can have only mahallebi and sütlaç.

I hope our ones will follow their good will. I am afraid during this election campaign we can hear lots of nationalist slogans.

EROGLU VISITS GUZELYURT REGION

The National Unity Party’s Presidential candidate – Prime Minister Dervis Eroglu visited the Guzelyurt district yesterday as part of his election campaign. Mr Eroglu came together with representatives of some societies, unions and institutions based in the Guzelyurt district at a lunch.

Speaking there, Mr Eroglu expressed the hope that people would reflect their own free will to the ballot boxes and said he is asking for the public’s support in the elections not foreign powers.

As part of his visit, Mr Eroglu also attended a tea party organized by the National Unity Party Guzelyurt and Lefke Women Branches in Gemikonagi.

Speaking during the event, Mr Eroglu described the Presidential elections as a struggle which is being waged by people who want to live in freedom under the roof of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus against those who desire to enslave the Turks of Cyprus to the Greek Cypriots or the so called Cyprus Republic.

The UBP Presidential candidate Eroglu also came together with citizens in the Yesilirmak village yesterday where he said that the election is historical and is related with the future of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and its people.

TALAT CONTINUES HIS ELECTION CAMPAIGN

President Mehmet Ali Talat is continuing his election campaign with a series of visits to different regions of the republic. Mr. Talat who visits the Iskele region today, paid a visit to the Doganci village yesterday where he held the first rally of his election campaign.

Addressing the crowd, the President said great efforts have been made since 2002 and he added that he has been pursuing a policy to integrate the Turkish Cypriots with the world since 2004.

Explaining that as a result of his correct policies he achieved to have several contacts in the international arena, he said as a result of these policies the world understood the fact that the Turkish Cypeiots are in favor of a solution in Cyprus.

Mr. Talat also said that if the Direct Trade Regulation which is to be retaken up by the European Commission would be approved, the European Council will also have to approve it in the end.

Pointing out that the European Court of Justice’s decision on the Immovable Property Commission was a gaining for the Turkish side, he said the decision lighted the way for the solution of the property issue adding that it also showed that the rights of the user and the owner closed up within the years.

Within the framework of his election campaign Mr. Talat also visited the villages of Guneskoy, Aydinkoy, Gaziveren and Yayla yesterday.

`NO RETURN TO PAST`

President Mehmet Ali Talat has said that there will be no return to the past. President Talat – who is standing for re-election - visited the Iskele region yesterday as part of his election campaign. Speaking during his tour of the region, Mr Talat said that the TC People has understood that it is impossible for them to return to the past when they think of the past.

Claiming that the TC People was not given the right to referendum between 2002 and 2003 and was excluded from the world, Mr Talat said the TC's were declared as the intransigent side during this period.

Noting that the TC People is no longer considered as the intransigent side thanks to the policies pursued, he said `the European Union is regretful to accept the Greek Cypriot Side’s unilateral membership to the block`.

Referring to tomorrow’s meeting between him and the Greek Cypriot Leader, President Talat said he wanted a joint statement to be issued on the points agreed so far at the talks but added that the Greek Cypriot Side has been opposing the idea.

He noted that he is in support of an agreement to be reached on the basis of a bi-zonal order and political equality under the guarantorship of Turkey.

`WE ARE LIVING IN PEACE UNDER TURKEY’S GUARANTORSHIP`

Prime Minister - the leader of the National Unity Party Dervis Eroglu has said that the Cyprus Turkish People has been living in peace under the guarantorship of Turkey. `We are struggling to protect our Turkish identity` Mr Eroglu told a crowd of villagers during a tour of the Karpaz and the Mesarya Regions.

In speeches he delivered during the visits, Mr Eroglu – who is standing as a Presidential candidate – said that the Cyprus Turkish People established their own state following the 1974 Turkish Peace Operation and that the TRNC people is now enjoying peace under the guarantorship of Turkey.

The Premier said that he is in support of an agreement that will prevent the repetition of the past and will protect the interest of Turkey.

He stated that he will be bringing the Cyprus Turkish People’s expectations to the negotiation table in order to reach a viable agreement.

Mr Eroglu said he is determined to bring the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus to a better point by protecting Turkey’s rights as a guarantor power.

Do you know what the nationality breakdown is? How many Cypriots and how many Turks? Let's not forget, how many Christian Cypriots?
