That's in the dative (τῷ) so it translates as the birth of the Levite was to the Cyprus. It's not saying he is Cypriot!

No you semi-literate. It clearly says:

"... Λευῒτης, Κύπριος τῷ γένει ..."

" ... the birth of (τῷ γένει) the Levite (Λευῒτης) was to Cyprus (Κύπριος) ..."

i.e.

"... the birth of the Levite was to Cyprus .."

Or in grammatically correct English:

"the Cyprus-born Levite" or "the Levite of Cyprus"

Then we have to remember that in the time of our Lord there were no less than four languages in use in Palestine, and their mixture formed the "Yiddish" of those days.

There was LATIN, the language of the Romans, who then held possession of the land;
And there was ARAMAIC, the language of the common people.
