Bible Search for Greeks on or anywhere near Cyprus!

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Postby Mikiko » Sat Mar 27, 2010 8:41 pm

Obviously all the differences you mention are a result of forcing Cyprus to be a separate state.

what is so wrong to have a separate state ? Why you deny people to have their own state like all the people on this planet.... Do you think that cypriots dont deserve their own state?

The greeks you find in Cyprus are immigrants and a minority we even allow them to have their own church and fly their own flag as Cypriots are not so religious like them . If they were in other country they would be Kicked out.

That describes Piratis and Oracle to a "T"!

Strangely, those are typical characteristics of people who turn to the Bible for answers!

Like the island's first president. you mean?

Those were different times, my friend. :D

The change was signalled by when he turned towards Democracy for the answers,

He turned away from the Bible? That will be news to many.

Oracle wrote:and we were crucified by the Turks ...

The Ancient Greeks' creation; Democracy. Abandoned because it set people free.

Set people free... except all the Athenian slaves who, of course, never got to vote.

Oracle wrote:Replaced by religion ... (thank you Joseph/Barnabas ).

That's what the slaves were saying too. Thank you, Barnabas. No doubt the message the patron saint of Cyprus spread was particularly attractive to the poor and downtrodden.

Oracle wrote:We are denied this freedom, Democracy, dangling temptingly like the grapes to Tantalus, gifted to us by our ancestors and our rightful inheritance.

Phewy to your ancestors' so-called democracy. My ancestor, the Cypriot Stoic Zeno, was the first philosopher to condemn slavery as immoral.

Oracle wrote: Denied to us by the Islamist racist Turks ...

Let she who is without sin cast the first stone.

defining words is so difficult.

there is a difference between Nation and State. it is modern, in terms of history, to think of them as seperate identities.

so too, the principals of a Bicommunal identity, where the People are Individuals as well as Persons, an idea quite new.

add to that a geographic relationship, Bizonal, many Components as Constituencies, politically representing an Identity as one Sovereignty.

and consider the function of language in an Age where teletextual communications must be processed.
((pls. read my manifesto), again)

...we have a lot to learn from heros, like Barnabas.

the way, if we would follow it, we would be like gods...

thanks OP, love your new signature.

How old are you? 15?

If all the people on this planet had their own state then we would have more than 6 billion states. Obviously that is not the case.

territories unite together and form bigger countries. The bigger the country, the more powerful it is and the more able it is to protect its citizens.

Cyprus was denied the right to be part of the Greek Republic along with all other Greek islands, because it was in the interests of certain foreign imperialists to keep Cyprus as weak and isolated as possible, making it easier for them to continue to exploit our island.

I am Greek and my roots in Cyprus go back thousands of years. If you are in Cyprus and you are not Greek then you are the one who belongs to a minority, not me.

...thanks mala, Zeno against slavery, interesting.

what was Cyprus, politically speaking at that time?

greek then
, i imagine, and greek
now, yet
an extinction is immentent.
cypriots, if
they wish, they can sustain many Official
Languages,
for their nurturing. the osmosis
in this state
would allow for the evolution of qualities
more refined, as universal.

...it wasn't poor people who stoned Barnabas indeed.

Piratis I thikn you are a 13 year old boy who likes to play with the keyboard . I am from Cyprus and hence this does not make me Greek how is this difficult to understand . Why didnt you ask the Cyprus people If they wanted Indepennce or integration in to a Greek republic in a proper democratic referendum ?

Akel (one of the bisggest parties back then ) , Turkish Cypriots , Armenians and many other nationalities would have had a different choice

The island also got a short period of independence before being captured by a bigger power which directly implies that Independence was a viable option too but it was left out by the so called freedom fighters ...

Cyprus gained independence around 669/663. Cemeteries of this period are chiefly rock-cut tombs. They have been found, among others, at Tamassos, Soloi, Patriki and Trachonas. The rock-cut 'Royal' tombs at Tamassos, built ca. 600 BC imitate wooden houses. The pillars show Phoenician influence. Some graves contain remains of horses and chariots.

Totally untrue; London and Liverpool have the same Government, identical laws, drive on the same side of the road, have a common national soccer team etc. etc.

You are trying to perpetuate a myth; Cyprus is NOT part of the Greek Nation, as you have previously stated! Cypriots are not Greek, I find it hard to credit someone defending this idea!

lana

Lana, I am not sure if you are kidding here ...

Obviously all the differences you mention are a result of forcing Cyprus to be a separate state. If Cyprus was allowed to be part of the Greek Republic as the Cypriots wanted then none of those things would be different for Cyprus.

...and pigs may fly.

If the Ottomans really did what you constantly say they did, you'd be all talking Turkish.  (or even Hebrew).

Have you ever considered that this is why you are talking Turkish?

We were lucky that Cyprus was one of the last territories to fall to the Ottomans and the Ottomans lost control of our island in 1878, or else what happened to the west and north coasts of Asia Minor would happen to Cyprus also.

I always thank God for little mercies  You should be thankful too.

Have you ever seen me claim to be 'Turkish' in origin? I may be or may be not.  You will never know. I am Turkish speaking. End of story.

You can be Zulu for all I care. I didn't tell you what you should be did I?

I am from Cyprus and I am Greek, just like the majority of the population. How is this difficult for you to understand?

We asked for a referendum to decide just that and it was DENIED to us.

Maybe if we were given the option to choose between a real independence and enosis we would choose independence. Perfectly acceptable to me either way.

What is not acceptable is to force on us without giving us any option some pseudo "independence" that served the interests of certain foreign imperialists and not the interests of the Cypriot people.

Ah here come those bloody "foreign Imperialists" again!~
sodding Venetians are a pain arnt they ?
fighting the biggest and bloodiest sea battle for victory over the horrible invader.
And of course Richard the Lionheart and the crusaders, married here, built castles here to defend the Island and fought the invaders and defended the holy land against those invaders

Must not forget the French either must we?
or even the Hittites, Egyptians, or Levantines.
sometimes i think people are so ungrateful :)
