It looks like your next source will be some neonazi site you bookmarked after googling "Cypriot Übermensch"

Make sure you quote your sources this time, you wouldn't want another "maknews" fiasco would you?

Countless! But don't expect anyone here to bother with real evidence!

GR! seems to be having a problem living up to his 'nick' ... perhaps he should just change it (again!).

So they were Greek speakers without being Greek/Hellens; Greek speaking Cypriots?

Says who? How did the common language spread between Cyprus and Greece if it wasn't via the people? And not just the language at that.

I am trying to clarify your earlier answer:

It is not about enosis. It is about our ethnicity which foreign invaders are trying to force us to change so they will isolate us even more.

Are you Cypriot?

the only way to have a Greek ethnicity is to move to Greece .

And if I move to France I will be French?

you can move to greece and apply for citisenship and that is the procedure to get the Greek ethnicity . How can you get the Greek ethnicity in Cyprus ?

Most people, including Cypriots and Greeks! The younger generation, which you are clearly NOT! I swear you belong in 19th century, early 20th century, when 'Aussies' were going to war for 'King and Country'....

It is the 26th of March, 2010! 8)

Care to substantiate that statement?

All you have to do is travel the world to see how even the Americans, Australians and Canadians have invented their own ethnicity. This ethnicity also comprises a Cypriot element!

How do you fail to notice your own contradictions?

First you claim :

Paphitis wrote:The notion of race/ethnicity is very much outdated.

Then you " attempt to "support" this by saying:

... even the Americans, Australians and Canadians have invented their own

So what's it to be?

Is ethnicity "outdated" or being "invented" to this day?

Not a contradiction at all. The Americans, Australians and Canadians are the most internationalist of them all, and hence they are more 'Hellenic' than you, since they have the vision you don't, and have built a nation from all nations!

In the same way as the visionary Turks have built a "nation on Cyprus", perhaps?

And you are assisting their "nation" building on Cyprus.

How could I be? You are the one extolling the virtues of parallel "nation building" in other colonised territories.

Did the Greeks colonise Cyprus or not?

I hope so! :D

Are you now going to equate the rapidly-enacted atrocities of the last few centuries by imperialists, with the gradual migratory movements of people of 10 - 20,000 years ago? Or, do you have some specific "invasion" date for Greeks colonising Cyprus?

"10,000 - 20,000 years ago" .... What!!!! So the Greeks are not just neolithic but pre-neolithic. And these neolithics were, according to Oracle, not only coming to Cyprus but already Greek. Wow

Did I call them Greeks or "people"?

But, perhaps you are unfamiliar with the migratory patterns of people at that time who seeded the populations which we now recognise as Greeks or Brits. If that troubles you, sit down before you hear how the Australian Aborigines can claim identifiable roots back to 30-40,000 years ago.

According to Dr. Thomas W. Jacobsen, classical archeologist at the University of Pennsylvania, there are indications that during the Final Paleolithic Age in Greece both plant and animal domestication had taken place (Jacobsen, 1976). Also Dr. Philip Smith, professor of anthropology at the University of Montreal, wrote: "With the benefit of hindsight we can now see that many Late Paleolithic peoples in the Old World were poised on the brink of plant cultivation and animal husbandry as an alternative to the hunter-gatherer's way of life." (Smith, 1976)

A number of Upper Paleolithic sites are scattered throughout the peninsula of Greece: among them Kastritsa, Asprochaliko, Seidi Cave, and Franchthi Cave. Of these the latter seems to have the most complete sequence of strata, beginning some 20,000 years ago in the Upper Paleolithic, continuing through the Mesolithic, and into the Neolithic of only 5,000 years ago. Horse bones have turned up in a number of such sites.

Turks are totally foreign to our area. They belong to Mongolia.

Let's not forget that by the time the New Testament was written, Greece had long conquered the bulk of the known world, had established medicine, mathematics, philosophy, astronomy, cosmology, drama, poetry, sculpture, architecture, etc etc. ... So they were so ingrained in every aspect of everyday life, they were naturally the least mentioned. Taken for granted as omniscient and omnipotent! ..... 8)

That's correct, Deniz. His countrymen (the "men of Cyprus") indeed were Greeks! :D

... Just what I've been saying to Mal and GR! all along.

Idiot!

Agoraki mou, we know that you are torn between your old love of Greece, from your idyllic days on Santoniri, and your new blossoming love for Turkey; we understand that resolving conflicts of the heart are not easy. Hush now.

On a lighter note, will you be inviting any forumers to the wedding? I know where you can get a great deal on koufeta in bulk! :-D

Are you delusional?

Did you right that yourself? How creative.

I wish you and your Turkish boyfriend a long life and all the happiness in the world!

It seems there has been some "righting" going on, all right!

If Epiktitos is "delusional", then consider it "mass delusion" because not only did I see Get Real!'s eloquent confession (above), but I also saw the evidence of GR!'s schizophrenia and his shameless misrepresentation -- which sums up this thread and his attitude to Hellenism generally! Don't make me feed your self-promoting attention seeking ventures by resorting to posting screenshots ...

Now, apologise to Epiktitos, please.

I don't see any confessions from GR! Hence both of you are deluded.

Why the rush to defend GR!? If you didn't know what was on that web-page, you would have had some "reasonable doubt", as would most people, since the page no longer exists. Yet, for some reason, you are adamant there was no such post. Why are you so protective?

What I do see is Epiktos confessing his Greek homosexual tendencies and his love affair with another Turkish male.

I think we have established just how much trust we should apply to your testimonies as we add to your growing list of unsavoury characteristics a disregard for honesty and integrity.

Why not?

I defend anyone whom I believe is being treated unfairly. It doesn't matter whether I have had arguments/clashes with member A, B, or C, I will protect them from personal slurs which I believe are unjustified. I would do the same thing for you, and I have done so many times, even when you were unfairly attacked by a member you 'accuse' me of protecting right now. I don't take anything personal. It's a real shame that others do.

Furthermore, I want to inform people that Cyprus Now Forum has been closed down for the following reasons;
1) I don't have the time to run it,
2) I don't want to be dealing with other peoples dummy spats/issues,
3) It was not that popular and I don't believe it would have worked, and
4) I don't want to ruin other members social needs/requirements such as what was mentioned by you.

If others still want it, then I am happy to put it back up, but they will need to run it themselves.

Muslims and Christians on Cyprus avoided each other like the plague unlike the Slavs and Greeks.
