Bible Search for Greeks on or anywhere near Cyprus!

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

There needs to be something which is identifyable to all Cypriots.

Why? Because the Turks object to some elements of the truth?

Hellenism is as much Cypriot as it is Athenian. It will evolve and change naturally, as it has always done.

You are talking about specifically changing it, repackaging it simply because the Turks don't like it.

On the contrary! I think you will find that Turkey would prefer more people like you, because Turkey will just turn around and say that there are 2 peoples on Cyprus, Greek and Turkish.

For me the choice is very simple. I want a Cypriot Cyprus (as it should be) rather than a divided Greek and Turkish Cyprus.

You, it seems want a Greek and Turkish Cyprus.

Simpleton!

Yes, of course there are TWO people in Cyprus. The legitimate native Greeks, and the illegitimate invader Turks!

Once you understand the strength of that difference, we may have some progress!

The notion of race/ethnicity is very much outdated. Populations shift, and soon, there will be dozens of communities in Cyprus, or there can be only Cypriots. People are evolving into internationalists, but it seems you are left behind.

Simpleton? Indeed you are!

So after reading this verse, who was the teacher and who was the pupil in Antioch?

Don't you just love Bible studies in the run up to Easter...?

This is Acts 11:20, in the original Koine...

The word Ἑλληνιστάς is more accurately translated, not as 'Greek'/'Grecian' (ie. a native of Greece), but as 'Hellenist'.

http://www.yourdictionary.com/hellenist

(ie. a non-Greek, esp. a Jew of the Hellenistic period, who adopted the Greek language, customs, etc.)

So, when our pioneering Cypriot teachers went to Antioch to spread the good news about Jesus, they were trying to convert Hellenized Jews, rather than Greeks living in Antioch.

Just had a look for any mention of Greeks in The Cat in the Hat. None. However lots of reference to guns and killing things. I will write to the publishers to complain about this.

If there were "Hellenised" Jews, then there were obviously Greek settlers who did the 'Hellenising'. How else could this be done?

How ironic it is that today it is the 'Greeks' and Cypriots who have become more 'Jewish' thanks to the 'Cypriot' Barnabas and co.....

Most people, including Cypriots and Greeks! The younger generation, which you are clearly NOT! I swear you belong in 19th century, early 20th century, when 'Aussies' were going to war for 'King and Country'....

It is the 26th of March, 2010! 8)

Most people .....

Doesn't hold true where I reside at the moment, or even where I reside temporarily.

Care to substantiate that statement?
