I'm in no way excusing the behaviour, but looking at the countries (or over seas territory in the case of Gibraltar) that were mentioned in the report, I can't help but think they were easy targets..The point is, 'is anyone whiter than white?
Yes, the Cypriot Government. This is all lies, obviously. You can offer some one a fag and be sued for attempted murder or blatant bribery. This is the world we live in today.
I hear what you’re saying, but when you offer an MP or a
political party large amounts of money, or 'gifts' etc it’s pretty obvious something to your advantage is to be expected in return for your generosity, whether you think it’s a just cause or not. The sad truth is, the more ‘generous’ you are the more influence you have. In today’s politics, money talks. Very loudly.
In my opinion the BBC took three of the least influential lobbies or governments and ran a ‘shocking’ story exposing the MPs who accepted the gifts offered (or should I say did not make it clear they had accepted those gifts). To expose the most influential lobbies, governments etc would be far too risky…Basically they played it safe, with easy targets.Needless to say NO TC has EVER wined and dined an English politician.
