Before he visit the monastery Chrysostomos had meeting with GC's living in the region.

Is this a first, Halil? Could it mean a softening of attitudes from the clergy, do you think?

It was widely reported on the 'net yesterday and mentioned on here too.

"I wish to return to the days when we were all happy and friends," Chrysostomos told Saner, according to reporters accompanying him on the trip.

Sharing a story from his childhood, Chrysostomos told Saner how as a youngster he was friends with Turkish Cypriots boys from a nearby village.

Saner in turn said both his own father and grandfather spoke Greek fluently, and lamented the growing distance between younger generations of Greek and Turkish Cypriots.

“We need a peaceful island,” Saner said.

Sounds like a bit of 'softening of attitude' to me.

I do my Banaiyamu cross every morning with thoksa su theomu whether I need it or not and then I fast every Ramazan, so I cover all angles.
I don't need no confession, I have no sins. Any case the priest wouldn't have enough time after hearing yours and the rest of the patriot sheepriots and all that, what?

I think his head might actually be shaped like that when he takes off his hat.
