I heard that before. The Brits are not to be trusted. They never keep promises and will find a way to weasel their way out of this one.

The Akrotiri base was targeted for environmental concerns from the local communities. The Brits promised to look into these complaints. That was 3-4 years ago. Nothing is done.

We need to push them in any way possible. Exposing their violations on the internet is a start. More "measures" can follow up the effort. Your computer keyboard can do a lot more than you think. Put it in good use for a change.

In Greece, after many demonstrations, most of the US bases are gone. Cypriots can do the same. We can help too. Doing nothing, like some CF members suggest, is unacceptable.

He has a classic GC chip on his shoulder.
He comes from a Commonwealth country and he lives in a Commonwealth country yet decries the Commonwealth country that made this possible.

Canada is not my homeland, Cyprus is. Canada can deport me at anytime just like any other who is "a foreign national" here.

It is sad to see Canada allowing Batus to operate here.

Yes, I am a GC with an SBA chip on my shoulder. What about you TCs? Do you guys "enjoy" the presence of the SBAs in Cyprus? No chips on your shoulders? Then Neel in front of the Brits and beg for mercy!

George you must stop and think sometimes about the action needing to be taken and the consequences of it there after. If you had an elephant in your front yard, would you rush out and usher it away? No, you would make sure you had the means to defend yourself first for self survival.

Yes YFred, you are right. This is an elephant in our back yard. This elephant will not leave overnight. It will take many "men" and many years to push it out. But have no illusions. Cyprus will survive just fine, when the elephant is gone.

What I am surprised with, is the reluctance of my fellow Cypriots, the TCs, to support the effort, as if this is impossible. I would like to hear the TC side on this. Do you guys want the SBAs out or not?
