Wind Farm

Postby cyprusgrump » Fri Mar 19, 2010 11:20 am

I was surprised to look out of my kitchen window this week and see a number of white towers on the horizon - these have rapidly gown and the first has just had its blades installed turning it into a massive windmill...

I presume this waste of (taxpayer's) money and energy is to fulfil some ridiculous EU Eco-Agenda is it...?

They serve no purpose other than to placate tree-hugging eco-nutters...

In their entire lifetime (30 years) they don't generate enough electricity to offset the energy used manufacturing and transporting them. Plus, they require extra generating capacity to be continually on 'standby' for days (like today) when the wind stops blowing...

They are a complete, utter waste of taxpayer's money!

Make no mistake, somebody is making a huge amount of money out of this farce and none of it will be heading back to the people that are being forced to pay for it.

Talking of making money; I wonder if any council leader makes money from GATSO contractors/manufacturers? Probably journalists are digging the dirt as we speak. I must add that I have no proof for my evil thoughts.

Fortunately they are too far away to be a noise nuisance!

It was fascinating watching them assemble the first one today - a mahoosive crane was lifting the blades into place where they were bolted together. They made good progress today as it was perfectly still, not a breath of wind...

That very fact somewhat highlights the pointlessness of the whole project!
