Christofias won't seek second term if talks fail

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Christofias won't seek second term if talks fail

Postby paliometoxo » Thu Mar 18, 2010 3:24 pm

deniz you say why dont the leaders talk about the so far progress and i think gasman is right...

NICOSIA - President Christofias said Thursday that he would not seek re-election in 2013 if ongoing talks to reunify the island fail.

"I underline clearly; if no Cyprus settlement is reached by the end of my first term, I will not seek a second term. My current term in office will be my first and last," Christofias said during a news conference.

Christofias said there have been many meetings by the two sides, but that both are still far apart in their positions and that the Turkish Cypriot side was being influenced by Ankara.

"The failure to achieve impressive progress is owed to the distance in positions between the two sides and not because more meetings haven't been made," he said.

"Wherever the Turkish Cypriot side showed a willingness equivalent to our own, there have been convergences. Unfortunately, in many of its proposals, the Turkish Cypriot side, with the backing of Ankara, remained static in older positions."

All we got is a big fat angouri.

What “reunification” you fat jerk? You think you’re Garibaldi or Bismarck?

Cyprus is under an illegal Turkish invasion/occupation and the sooner you realize that the sooner you’ll get your terminology and actions right!

Now fuck off to the occupied territory where you belong you useless communist shit!

But they already offered to in 2004 - remember. And TC's supported the plan. Shame that TPap told the GC's to say no (and so much for negotiating in good faith).

Smart move by Christofias, because he wouldn't be elected anyway.

Shame the result was 76% NO and not 100%, because Christofias wouldn't even think of negotiating disguised-partition "solution" plans.
