Atatürk chose to keep the name KEMAL from then on, and that's the way it is written for the large majority of his life. It is no different than thousands of TCs in the "trnc" who had been forced to change their surnames to a new one, therefore they too now have something different name than the names they had when they were born, at least before1974. Any name one chooses to become their surname, that's the name they will be known as, much like what women often do, by taking on their husbands last name to become their own.
