Joint statement on the agreed points so far.

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

I think their will eventually be a joint statement about progress, but only after Christophias gets some concessions out of Talat. You know it makes sense!

Oyster's From Dervish........... :!: :!: :!:

`TRNC IS A SOVEREIGN STATE`

Prime Minister Dervis Eroglu has underlined the need to give a message to those perceiving the TRNC as a community at the table that there is a sovereign state in the North of the island.

Prime Minister Eroglu came together with former and current National Unity Party deputies at dinner last night.

In an address at the event, the Prime Minister said `we are all have been carrying out a joint struggle for our people and the State`, adding that their final objective is to claim the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

On the Cyprus issue, Mr Eroglu said there are messages needed to be given to those who still perceive the TRNC as a community.

`There are people who are still rejecting our sovereignty and who are still debating it. No debate can be held over the issue` he said, adding that first of all the TRNC’s sovereignty should be accepted at the table.

The Premier said it is time to explain to the world and the Greek Cypriot Leader Dimitris Christofias that it will be easier to reach an agreement if the Cyprus Turkish people’s sovereignty is accepted.

‘CRUCIAL ISSUES PUT ASIDE’

Prime Minister Dervis Eroglu has complained that the most crucial issues have been put aside at the negotiations table. “You can’t resolve the Cyprus issue by negotiating the chapters on EU Matters and Governance and Power Sharing” the Premier said, while receiving members of the 50. Anniversary of the TMT - the TMT Association President Yilmaz Bora and the President of the Cyprus Turkish Fighters’ Society Vural Turkmen today.

Stating that the Cyprus Turkish national struggle was crowned with the establishment of the TRNC, Prime Minister Eroglu said that a settlement, which will make it possible for the Cyprus Turkish people to live with honor, can be reached only if the Cyprus problem is considered as a whole.

He said that the Greek Cypriot Side has been continuously asking for concessions because of the failure to bring crucial issues, such as territory and guarantorship, to the table and the attempts to please the Greek Cypriot Leader Christofias.
For his part, Bora called on the TRNC people to protect their state.

He said that the Association is dissapointed with the acceptance of principles of single sovereignty and citizenship and claimed that the issue of guarantorship was also opened to debate.

Bora also announced that they will support Mr Eroglu in the presidential elections.

Why are they so bothered about Eroglu?
What difference does it make who wins?
After all Turkey is in control of the north, is she not?
Have we been fed bullshit all this time from Kicks baby about who is in control in the north?

Image is everything, specially after the Erdogan's recent statements, so how can Turkey now put the Fascist Eroglu to be the face of the "trnc". That's why they got rid of Denktash too, or do think the TCs voted Denktash out because he did not do enough for them for the past 40+ years. Turkey is in charge and they call the shots as to who they want and when they want it. Eroglu's usefulness has ended, because the bluff did not work, that should he be elected, the talks are over and that Plan B will be recognition and permanent partition in the north. The GCs did not buy that bluff, so now, it is once again Talat who they will put in place. Turkey's position will not change at all, no matter who the puppet is, because the puppeteer is the same, YFred.

It must be soul destroying for any news reporters covering stuff like this. You're an ambitious young journalist looking to win the next Pulitzer then you get sent to some dinner hosted by Superglu for an elderly bunch of UBP munchkins and fascists - and you're expected to get a decent line out of it.

You are so wrong. This is not just Erdogan, UN are at it too. Why should UN be bothered with Eroglu's image. Secondly, TCs would never have voted for Denktash all those times without the Turks bringing in boat loads of Turks to vote for him. When they stopped doing that is when Denktash lost even with settlers voting. Get a hold of reality Kicks, you've lost touch mate.
The reason why UN is trying to help Talat is becasue they know if Eroglu gets in, he has enough power from Turkey to do as he pleases and the Erdogan can do sod all about it.

Denktas was aligned with the military and elitist classes of Turkey - that is the core reason for Erdogan snubbing Denktas. At the time Erdogan didn't have a real agenda for Cyprus but he did for the military etc..
Eroglu's politics would possibly work for Turkey now, after being frustrated with Talat's lack of progress, however he's not exactly a modern leader.

For those who think they are smart with the comments that Turkey has influence in north Cyprus - duh, where does spending money not have influence?

The Armenian lobbyists at +$50m get to press the US in a venture that worsens the foreign policy of the most powerful country in the world.
The Israeli lobbyists do exactly the same - note recent building plans.
Greek Cypriots spend fortunes trying to influence the influencers.
At +$500m per annum, do you think Turkey should have no influence?
When was France EVER interested in Cyprus yet now they are sending warships?
How many GCs are amazed that Oracle can lie and be so hypocritical? You have a vested interest to see her succeed.

Turkey wants the talks to succeed, but she is smart enough to know it must be a lasting settlement. She doesn't need a repeat performance. GCs are not very endearing so she must act accordingly.

Have the leadership lost all their senses? What have they got to loose by announcing what has been agreed. AT least it will revitalise this forum to show our bash patriot sheepriots how wrong they have been.
Especially after the decision on Orams’ case and then followed by the bombshell of ECHR recognising IPC which quite soon will lead to the biggest bombshell to be dropped by the UN which will drive our sheepriot patriots on the forum suicidal.

Deniz lets buy all the Prozac available on the market, we’ll make a killing.

The statement will be....nothing is agreed untill everything is agreed

Quite right, if may say so mate.....Nothing is Agreed 'Til Everything Is Agreed.
