A good healthy diet and regular exercise can prevent the onset of this terrible disease. A careful diet, sugar control, hygienic foot checking, neuropathy, bad circulation, kidney disease, impaired liver function and most importantly diabetic eyes are the most common factors affecting a diabetic patient.
Please check your lifestyles and enjoy healthy living.

I used to work in the 'medical profession' in England and believe me, diabetes is definitely on the increase. :( As D says keep a check on your lifestyle, just as a precaution. Better to be safe than sorry.

Where were you when I needed that advice all those years ago. Oh, Just remembered, you were a wee lass then.

As to the KEO drinkers, enjoy your KEO's but be aware of its sugar content. Have you got a beer belly?

I used to have 20 kilo one, but six months in the UK without KEO (OK, I did drink a fair bit of "Wife Beater") made it disappear and it has not returned since I started my regular KEO diet when I came back 5 years ago!

My husband has just come back from the government clinic in the next village with the usual two months' supply of pills for both of us. He popped into the village cafe on his way and his cousin said he wasn't feeling well, so they both went to the clinic and had their blood pressures taken, etc., but you're right, we do all seem to be obsessed with health - makes you wonder why so many of us are on medication with all that knowledge stored in our minds. Good place as any I suppose.

The present day life style of many can be harmful to your health.

In them good old days, with No TV, no computer games, no Wii etc, we would walk out in the fields chasing partridges, killing birds for supper, tending the fields, picking fruit or vegetables from the gardens or fields. Now in the civilised societies all they do is grow potat1o's - the couch variety. This is a main cause for the increase in diabetes among children. You's expect adults, parents to be aware of the problems, what with access to the internet etc. Its a shame.

Unfortunately not, even after the mushrooms! "Wife Beater" is the colloquial name for Stella Artois, I am not sure why.
