How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Americanism is like cancer. There is no cure from it. Either you live with it or you die. Take your pick. The only country in the world to survive removal of Americanism from their land is Vietnam and they paid a very heavy price for it. Now where is GR when you need him. What's the acceptable casualty figures today then?

Hey YFred,

Since you are a mod you could get the poll going. Let's get the ball rolling... a lot of work ahead of us.

who told you he's a mod?

I read in one of the threads... probably I'm wrong.
Where is the mods or the admin on CF? We need your input.

The bases occupy approx 3% of Cyprus, see below.

Has there been any real evaluation as to the net contribution both hard and soft of the presence of the bases?

I do believe the contribution of the land from at least one of the bases will considerably facilitate an easing of the property debacle on both sides of the island. Both bases would provide a complete cure, though I cannot help bu think there is some net positive contribution.

:? One of these days, one or two of you “Turkish Cypriots” are going to have to donate your brains to us so we can better understand you…

The land occupied by the bases could be used to accomodate 1974 displaced Cypriots. For now, these lands are radar installations, golf courses, garrisons, antennaes etc, totally useless for Cyprus. The Brits use them for spying on others in the area while refugees are still out there!

I'll have you know that Dikelya base is built on Efkaf land. It's all coming back to TRNC if the Brits leave.

That's great, you can move the settlers there as its conveniently fenced off and give the GCs back their villages.
