Not an accident but suicide .

Is it not time to recognize that Cypriot driving causes death and destruction. The article refers to the tragic event as an "accident" , have a look at the state of the car following the alleged accident and tell me that it was an ACCIDENT !
Premeditated suicide .
This young mans life gone for ever , his entire family tragically affected for the rests of their lives , another death on our roads , not another accident but another suicide .
This suicide occurred in Limassol , not on the motorway but in a town. The police , the article says , are investigating the cause of the accident and how this young man , may he RIP , lost his life. Look at the state of the car and tell me what the reasons were .

He was probably going to fast and as he was thrown out of the car, probably not wearing his seat-belt although it doesn't look as though it would have helped.

Looks like he hit a tree or lamp post...

Don't know how you can conclude suicide from that...

Judging from the photo of the wrecked car would you say that the car was travelling withing limits , just above or at an excessive speed . The Simerini photo shows the car upside down.

The point that I'm making here is that such tragic road deaths are not caused by an accident , here is one efinition :An inevitable occurrence due to the action of immutable natural laws.
And here is another :
ACCIDENT, This term signifies such unforeseen events, misfortunes, losses, acts or omissions, as are not the result of any negligence or misconduct ."

Would you say that most " accidents " on our roads are not as a direct result of " negligence or MISCONDUCT " ?

Accidents are generally caused by 'unforeseen events' as your second definition suggests...

My guess would be excess speed plus an 'unforeseen event' (person, animal, another vehicle, mechanical failure) which led to loss of control of the car...

So I guess you could say that excess speed was 'negligence or misconduct' but how many of us here have never exceeded the speed limit... I know I have...

Let an another fool be gone. 1 person less who had the chance of killing a child of my own outside my house. Sorry but he is a fool who was speeding trying to prove something to himself. Which is? Absolutely nothing! Why would you speed, adrenaline rush? Go to disney land and enjoy a ride.I feel sorry for his parents and relatives but not him.

Darwinism at its best.
This young fool was probably, driving too fast, on the phone, half cut and not wearing a seat belt.
Or a combination of the above.
Providing he hurt no-one else, I say goodbye and good riddance. :(

Looks like he went into a side-skid and broadsided a tree or a lamp post an high momentum. If he had his seat belt on, it would have kept him in his seat, but he would have broken his neck with the G-forces on his head going sideways from shoulder to shoulder. He could have been decapitated with such forces on his neck. If he wasn't wearing his seat belt, then he would have smashed his whole body into the side of the car that struck the solid object, which would have resulted fatality more than likely. Question is, what made him skid sideways.??

Answer is: His inability to appreciate that he wasn't as "cool" a driver as he thought he was.
