Not. Take a slow drive along the Limassol section of the highway and look at the tyre/skid marks . There are lots in straight lines but note how many are at angles and finish on the central barriers and the ones that end in the ditches on the left.
You only see/read about the fatal ones but there are loads of serious crashes every week. I have seen 3 overturned lorries within 2 weeks.

A few of years back on arriving at Larnaca airport I was picked up by my son in law who was on duty at the time but got an hour or so off so he drove to his base and I then took over the car and drove to Limassol . On entering Grivas Digenis street my mobile rung , I answered , my late wife was on line asking if I arrive ok , before I got the chance to reply a cop on a bike directed me to stop. He proceeded to write down the number plate and then asked me to produce my licence. I replied asking why on earth he stops a grey haired man driving sensibly , ah he said you were using the mobile , its an offence !!! I was not texting I replied just merely answering the bloody thing. Here is a ticket he says , £50 cy !!
Looking him straight in the eye I replied , listen you plonker , there are hundreds of fucking maniacs driving around and you go after a .... middle aged guy answering a mobile !! Went to the old Limassol Police station paid the fine that same morning. Evening comes and a dinner party is laid on for Pappou krasi , ameletita as always , grilled halloumi , karaoli and juicy succulent souvlakia prepared by the son in law. A few guests arrive including ... the bloody cop who gave me a ticket , had a laugh about it , give me the ticket he said, too fucking late I replied , paid this morning you owe me 50 quit , went in his wallet face as red as a beetroot wanting to give me 50 quid , honest to ...red wine that's how it went !!
I reached for the ameletita , picked one from the charcoal plonked it on his plate and said Arhidia to you cop !!

you are very lucky to pay only 50 pounds I paid 90 pounds when i was not wearing a seatbelt in the centre of nicosia where the speed limit was 40-50 km/h . And I had to pay also for the signs of the European Union that were printed on the back and front of the car as this was not in accordance with the law he said and also for my refusal to give the keys of my car as he pushed me and wanted to get the keys of the car and I refused . If I commited a murder I would have had a better treatment. I SHOULD BE VERY HAPPY THAT I AM STILL ALIVE AND HE DID NOT KILL ME. :D
