boil them first, throw an onion...if it gets dark then this mushroom contains toxins and not edible...

They are definitely NOT edible! (not joking) They edible ones have a reddish color like this:

They don't look edible to me however there are similar white variety ones that are, used to collect them around the Lefkara area when I used to live in Cyprus, some can grow up to 1-2 kilos each.
