British bases must go - EU standards violated.

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

What are you trying to say mate?

Perhaps he implies that without the Brits, Cyprus would be 50 years behind civilization as some parts of Turkey still are to this day.

If the Brits cleared off totally from Cyprus in 1960 and the 1974 war never happened, Cyprus standard of living would have been much higher than any country in Europe.
What are you basing this on?

The Brits were an obstacle not aid in Cyprus development. I know of a dozen countries that did very well without any Brits around.
Are they all little islands with a small population, like Cyprus?

Go ahead DT, give this guy some more of the same medicine, he needs it.

If the Brits cleared off totally from Cyprus in 1960 and the 1974 war never happened, Cyprus standard of living would have been much higher than any country in Europe. - NOW YOU ARE JUST BEING FUNNY
The Brits were an obstacle not aid in Cyprus development. I know of a dozen countries that did very well without any Brits around.- MORE WELL BALANCED , JUSTIFIED OBSERVATIONS THERE
MAYBE YOU SHOULD ASK A FEW "DEVELOPERS" ABOUT THAT ONE AS WELL OR ASK THE
BANKS AND GOVERNMENT ABOUT THE BILLIONS THAT THE ACCURSED BRITS HAVE BROUGHT TO CYPRUS

Go ahead DT, give this guy some more of the same medicine, he needs it.

Cyprus is "Florida" for Europe. The most southern part with the best weather and beautiful beaches & scenic mountains. This is the reason the Brits invested billions here. The Brits are not doing us any favors. Their money is well spent on properties that could worth a lot more down the road. Business as usual, not charity.

The bright future of Cyprus is yet to come. The Cyprob still holds back more potential investments due to security issues. If the solution is found, Cyprus could become a paradise we all dream of.

I travelled all over the world, especially the Caribbean. There is an investment orgie going on over there coming from US, Canada and Europe. I can see this happening to Cyprus as well. Tiny islands like Bermuda, Turks & Caicos, the Bahamas etc are enjoying prosperity. Cuba is far behind thanks to Fidel Castro. I was there 3 times... the people want freedom to harvest what other islands do.

One must look at the long term when evaluating the situation. Things like the Turkish occupying troops, SBAs, American base in the north, the ghost town of Famagusta and the Cyprob are not helping but obstructing the progress of Cyprus.

Does all this sound funny to you?

I think you will find the south of the island was not really a tourist/investment area untill after 1974, most foreign visitors went to the north coast, paphos had only 150 beds for tourists in 1968.But thanks for your holiday resume......

You refer to years 1968 & 1974... I am examining the facts today & beyond.
I see the situation as a Cypriot like you, not as a GC. Because this is the only way we should look at this.

It's not a holiday resume but rather lessons learned from travelling abroad. Seeing first hand how other countries progress can only enlighen the mind.

Would you agree the future looks great for Cyprus?

I think you give foreign individual investors far too much credit, as long as property is cheap they will buy north or south irrelevant of politics..Most buy or holiday here because of the influence the british had here, driving, alot of english speakers. I am not agreeing with this but stating what I see..

Do they have their own British courts operating in the SBAs? I know they have their own police force using GC and TC cops.

Investors will buy anywhere in the world if the conditions are right. It's foreigh money flowing in that makes the local economy strong. Brits are coming to Cyprus due to the well known "friendly climate". Attracting the remaining investments is pending the solution for a more secure environment... Definately, just the sound of SBAs existance is driving investors away to greener pastures.

Don't get me wrong. I have nothing against Brits retiring or investing in Cyprus. My problem is the British High command and their leadership. Their bases are a thing of the past and must go. Ever some brits who live here are fed up with the continuing display of colonianism from their motherland.

You may think the removal of the SBAs is next to impossible. I can assure you it is not.
