British bases must go - EU standards violated.

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Back to Brit legacies, the Morphou-Famagusta railway was ripped up in the 1950s or thereabouts. Would there be a case in any circumstances for bringing it back one day?

In actual fact the British DON'T hold the title deeds mearly the contract. perhaps we should charge them the cancellation charge, IPT and any other outstanding amounts before we cancel their contract and give the land BACK to its rightfull owners.

Similarly to the Turks, just because you can hold onto something by force, does not make it leaglly yours, even the ECJ has said this as well as the Royal courts.

I think you and your fellow smirking brits need to take those smiles and .... well you know what you can do with them.

Whats even funnier is when you got cheapskate carpetbaggers chipping in when they themselves are living and tresspassing in stolen GC properties.

Now thats how its done here, isn't it???

What do you mean should charge for cancellation fees sewerage IPT, CGT,s etc that is a GIVEN here. New stuff appearing now is Developers upping maintenance charges of €50k a year for an apartment block and not actually doing the maintenance IF you don,t sign up for this extortionate amount then no keys handed over on completion. Court system backed up by 3-4 years so no quick restitution.

I,m not actually smirking I thought it was quite a smart remark tongue in cheek, but your stupid reply made me rethink, and although I really DON,T believe the SBA,s should be here for many reasons, and I actually believe they will be going because of cost and embarassment to the UK, so no brainer really, but if you still think that thousands and thousands have,nt been shat on from a great hieght when they bought here in the firm belief they were dealing with honest people, with legal practices and systems in place then maybe you can follow the cynicism a bit.

Thinking about it now after my tongue in cheek remark and your reply a bit of payback regarding the bases would,nt go amiss and seen as we are all stuck here (not me personally) unable to sell because of the recession but even more so because now most cannot sell UNLESS some tart/dick of a Developer allows you to and then some unethical bank NOW says after years of double mortgaging 'Oh no can,t give a mortgage WITHOUT deeds'. Then yes my friend IF we can get the SBA,s to crack a deal before they leave, like no Deeds for 20 odd years etc I along with tens of thousands of others WHO would not have normally given a flying F*** about the bases leaving would smirk my head off. I think the islands treatment of foriegn buyers has been well documented and once the recession is passed I think along with the bases, many will give you your wish.

The north is not for me to discuss but the Developers at least along with the Lawyers seem to be very similar in practice, it must be the water

madam, if you want to have another dig at developers and the title deeds situation I suggest you start your own thread on that and not go off on one on the subject of SBAs.

You obviously have a massive chip on your should and use any excuse to blast these people. I never said people have not been shat upon, so don't get your knickers in a twist. You keep going on about how it doesn't affect you, yet your voice is the loudest, get a grip woman.

Christ no you're right, the posts on this Forum never go off thread, what was I thinking!

No chip on my shoulder as I, more by luck than judgement, is not in the same position as many but am more than happy to shout and spout about the huge problems until the very day they are seen to be addressed. Until then pehaps instead of suggesting many of my answers are connected to the situation you may notice more of them are not.

It is connected, I made it so, ok. Unless admin tell me different get used to it Sir :)

Don,t be such a man and get all angry now

Officer Training Corps faces the axe

Officer Training Corps faces the axe

THE Ministry of Defence is drawing up emergency cuts including the scrapping of the Officer Training Corps (OTC) and the withdrawal of troops from Cyprus.
The dire state of the defence budget also means that new Nimrod spy planes, costing £3.6 billion and due to come into service next week, will be parked in their hangars.

Awaiting to see if this will materialize... the Brits are known to bullshit their way out of statements like the above. When is MOD going to realize that Cyprus wants the SBAs out of the island, regardless of what England wants or can afford.

The bases occupy prime oceanfront real estate land, too expensive for wind farms. I would think the Akrotiri wetlands is a great spot for a national park to revive the wildlife of birds & plants. Would make a nice place to visit on the weekend and spent time with the family.

EOKA Day. Wouldn't today be the perfect day for those who want to see the Brit Bases go from Cyprus to take their objections to the bases in person?
