New survey carried out in South Cyprus has revealed that 39% of Greek Cypriots are in support of `secession` while 37% support `a bi-zonal bi-communal federation`.

According to the survey which was carried out for Kathimerini newspaper in South Cyprus, 59% of those questioned say they are against rotating presidency in a future solution to be found to the Cyprus problem.

Only 15% give their backing to rotating presidency.

62% of those polled say they are against the presence of Turkish born TRNC citizens, who they referred as `settlers`, after a possible settlement on the island.

21% say the `settlers` can remain on the island.

58% of those questioned give the Greek Cypriot Leader Demetris Christofias `little to none` credit and 41% give their full backing while responding to a question concerning Christofias’ policies on the Cyprus issue.

As time goes by and new generations are born, these numbers will only rise. The only ones that want to go back to pre 1974 and back to their villages are those born pre 70's, 60's etc. All the new generation know no better.

We aleardy have partition or secession, call it what you like for 36 years and the slow way we are going forward looking for a solution, the current situation will become permanent in 50 years time as the Turks are not in a hurry to solve the problem. Perhaps in their eyes the problem has already solved whilst we Greeks like the Palestinians dream of returning to the original status quo.
