Religious Freedom in the north?

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Religious Freedom in the north?

Postby denizaksulu » Mon Mar 08, 2010 10:33 am

Din Görevlileri Sendikası (Din-Gör-Sen), Lefkoşa’da faaliyet gösterildiği iddia edilen “Protestan vaaz ve ibadet yerlerinin” sorgulanması gerektiğini belirtti.

Din-Gör-Sen Başkanı Mehmet Dere, hafta içerisinde yerel bir basın organında Lefkoşa’da Protestan papazlar tarafından bazı evlerde vaaz verildiği ve ibadet yaptırıldığı iddiaları hakkında basın açıklaması yaptı.
KKTC’de yasalar çerçevesinde herkesin her kesimin inançlarını inandığı şekilde yaşamasından yana olduklarını belirten Dere, “Ancak, her geçen gün ülkemizde yaygınlaşan ‘Kilise Evleri’nin kamuoyu ve ülkemizin yetkili makamları tarafından sorgulanmasını istiyoruz!” dedi.

Rough translation:

Someone called Mehmet Dere has given a press release regarding news that some Protestant priests have been using private houses as places of worship.
Where-as he states that there is religious freedom in the so called 'trnc', these 'church houses' which are increasing day-by-day, should be investigated by the authorities.

Is this another step towards the 'Turkification' of the north? The way I see it it has nothing to do with the authorities ffs. These people simply move from house to house each week for services. Does anyone think that they would be allowed to build thier own Protestant church?

I hope the authorities have better sense and ignore this mans attempts.

Din-Gor-Sen translates as 'The Union of Religious 'Workers''. So he is a trade unionist. What ever next? Probably a setler to boot.

In Kerinia there is a church near the old police station /Castle. At easter time it is full to the brim. Anyone who wishes to practice their own faith need to have access somewhere without the need of interference from 'above'.
