lidl opening in paphos

Postby magil » Sun Mar 07, 2010 3:12 pm

the reason that lidl is having trouble opening is because all of the established supermarkets have been putting pressure on the government to try and force them to price their goods in line with the supermarkets goods in order to keep their profit margins at such a high level.
however and to lidl`s credit they have not buckled under the presure and although they are nearly 3 years behind schedule they seem to be near the end of the nightmare that is Cyprus. the cartel of the supermarkets
have even got their own price war placed to come into operation to try and crush lidl, much in the same way tesco asda and Morrison did in the UK when aldi was trying to establish its self.
l for one will not shop at any other store out of principle when they do eventualy open.

It is all a ploy to prevent the British enclave of Peyia (upper, lower, and the rest of dickheads in the middle) from being able to obtain their Bird's Eye fish fingers and Heinz baked beans at a reasonable price.

Anyway, once these Krauts open their shop down there, the beaches will be covered with towels by 5:00 AM!

Lidl doesnt sell heinz beans and birds eye fish fingers but it certainly sells good quality food at a price most people can afford unlike the rip off artists in Cyprus who import at a fraction of the price, convert to CY£s and then convert again to euros! That sort of fraud would result in jail in the UK and most other developed nations!May I also point out that Peyia has a huge Cypriot population (the owners of the land sold to developers) so are you suggesting they are all dick heads as well CBBB?

The enclave was created by developers not the buyers.

I am not sure they will manage a high profit if they open a store only in Paphos.

No way would I call Lidl food good quality; at least the vast majority of it.

The olive oil and parmesan is very good though.

Their non-food offers on the other hand.....

The one in Paralimni is very late. My opinion is the other supermarkets are making it hard from all angles for lidl to open.

Too much nepotism and bribary going on without a doubt.

Unless someone can give me a very good reason why a store will be built and sit idle for so long other than what I said above I stand by what I said.

Lidl has a very good name in Germany for the quality of the products it sells usually ranked high in their equivilant of their which consumer magazine - i wish them well against the non dickhead robbing shits trying to keep them out.
