Dont get your hopes up to quickly-the standard isn't what you would really call international more like Much Winding under the armpit 4th team away at Leeds on a wet Saturday afternoon.

Oh and by the way the TRNC's rugby team entertained a British touring side last Saturday interesting that there were a number of GC registered cars there . They seamed to be enjoying it.

Where do they figure in the international scene? Oh, sorry, they don't.

I wouldn't set too much store by that. Every time I am over there there is a 'GC registered car' with me - I am not Cypriot, GC or TC! This applies also to quite a few Brits I know who have bought over there and share their time between the South and the North and the UK but leave a car here in Cyprus to use. It makes life 'easier' for them to drive a GC plated car they say they find a lot of prejudice against them in the South if they drive on Turkish plates but the same thing doesn't happen in the North if they drive on GC plates.

I've been going over there for years on GC plates and never ever been asked about it by anyone.

You see them everywhere, not just parked outside rugby clubhouses!

Meant to add that, in the past, I have hired cars in the RoC and had permission to take them over. I don't think you can hire in the North and bring it South (never tried it but heard that was the case).

People are often told you cannot take hire cars north. That is not true - some hire companies will let you - the one I used to use was in the Tourist Area in Limassol, quite near the Old Bridge Hotel. They gave permission.

Its the fact the Cyprus thrashed Azerbaijan (Turkic State) that got to you.
If it was any other team you wouldn't have commented.
Considering Cyprus's tiny size and population and having no rugby history, only lost once in 3 years of international rugby is nothing short of jaw dropping...
Where is TURKEY?? Doesn't even have a team...
Odds are, Cyprus would vaporize them in triple digits if they had to play.
I resent your comment.
