For instance - Glass of Orange, 6 months ago, in Fish Tavern, Makenzy = 7 euros.

Glass of orange in Limassol Old Town, today = 5 euro.

Glass of orange in seafront restaurant nr Ag Tychonas, this evening = 1.70 euro.

Cypriot pal of mine told me yesterday that since GCs stopped picking their own fruit and paying immigrants to do it, they have to charge more for their oranges lol!

7 Euros for an Orange Juice........pheck me!

I was in (south) Nicosia one day last week. I found a small eatery in the backstreets of the walled part of the old city. A traditional bean dish there cost me 7 euro, with a free glass of tap water thrown in! Value is there if you look for it.

The UK , being a much larger market is by far cheaper than Cyprus when it comes to food and basics.Cyprus prices have spiraled out of control as far as the Brits go , by Brits I include us Charlies.
Palio mentions that in the UK he was charged 22 euros for a shot of tequila. Simply Palio such prices do not exist anywhere in the UK unless you were in areas such as the Soho and in clubs that exist purely to deceive the visitors.
In South London a new venue came on the scene early December last , talk about value for money !!
A jaz restaurant , bar where you sit at the bar in very comfortable surroundings and listen to live jaz music performed by bands of 5 or 6 members , the bands change every day , club is open only Thursday to Sunday.
The food is not only absolutely wonderful but very reasonable priced.
There is an £8 entrance fee . Last Saturday I visited , for the 3rd time , a bottle of red , a starter and a main meal , listened to the music which was just at the right sound level , and my bill ? Frankly I dont yet know , I walked out forgetting to ask for the bill , since my company fitted their kitchen out , Im known by management , I telephoned the following day and apologized had a laugh about it and I will be sent the bill.
Price for starters from £3.95 to £4.95 , main courses from £9.95 to £14.95 , wines from £15.00 to £27.00
SPIRITS , INCLUDING SHOTS £2.20 !!!
The name of this venue , THE HIDEAWAY .Bookings now ...taken.
Back to Cyprus now and the exorbitant prices of coffees , drinks etc demanded by some establishments. My answer to that is to avoid such places !! The amount of 7.50 euros mentioned for coffee is simply diabolical the Ritz in London charges £38.00 for its afternoon teas , including a selection of sandwiches , scones , cakes consumed in one of the worlds finest Hotels .
Have a look at the Tea Menu:

Enjoy a traditional Afternoon Tea in the spectacular Palm Court

Menu

Smoked Salmon Sandwiches
Ham Sandwiches
Chicken Sandwiches
Cucumber Sandwiches
Mature Cheddar Cheese Sandwiches
Egg Mayonnaise and Cress Bridge Roll

Freshly Baked Raisin and Apple Scones with
Devonshire Clotted Cream and Strawberry Preserve

Assortment of Afternoon Tea Pastries
Ritz Chocolate Cake

£38 per person
(£39 from May 2010)

A Glass of Champagne £18.00

Now visit the Paphos port restaurant scene and see what you get for 40 euros !!
